A&W Canada — Restaurant in Vancouver

I went to this location back when they had seats and a washroom available and the service timing was usually reasonable. The customer service has slipped since then. There are now no seats and the washroom isn't available to customers anymore. I can understand taking away the seats to prevent some of the sketchier people from lingering. The employees there deserve to feel safe. But the food service part has slipped. It seems like they're all friends more interested in their conversations than serving customers. One time I ordered a breakfast and the guy in charge of my order was literally slowly buttering my bread talking to the girl he worked with as I waited (I needed to get going!). This has happened a few times now where they are chatting and talking and not paying attention to getting the orders out to customers. I am happy that they don't seem to hate their jobs, but they should care about the people who are part of their wage. I am being honest here when I say that they show zero interest in getting your order to you quickly. I try not to go because I don't want to give the place my business. But it's so convenient so the business will probably be safe for a while despite the less than...

The staff here are great. Always friendly, responsive. They check my order twice. That's important cos I always ask for custom toppings\add- ons. Some restaurants would like 3 times at you if you ask to change their recipe a bunch. A&W is happy to 'make it mine' which makes good food better (for me!)

One thing, I honestly think that the whole block there at Main & Terminal has some very stressed people passing through. Relatively permanent security, visible, could improve business and sense of safety for customers.

One day, it shocked me and the person taking my order when a man outside shouted slurs incredibly loudly and angrily then threw his cup of pop against the window right where I stood. It's not the first time a man has thrown a bottle or cup at me this year, it has to do with homophobic culture being on the intensifying angry run from justice, and I happen to have long hair, whatever. I just wanted to get a burger at my favourite A&W location. This incident occurred in broad daylight. It's weird to be a target of propaganda and hatred just for wanting a burger in public. I voted 3 for "atmosphere."

This may be the rudest fast food/restaurant I've ever been. I walked in and ordered three double buddies with chesse and a medium diet coke. While waiting for my order, one of the co-workers accused me of recording them. I was not even facing the counter, nor was my phone in that direction. My phone was actually pointed to down to the floor. The co-worker then proceeded to be convinced I was recording her and said she was going to call security if I didn't stop. I agian said I'm texting, and my cell is not pointing in your kitchen or to any A&W member. She then asked to see my phone to prove I wasn't. I showed them my screen with my text messages to my girlfriend. Still not convinced that I wasn't recording, she said I need to apologize or I'm not going to receive my order.
