An Egg Toast is one of the best breakfast sandwiches you will ever eat!
I read about Bread x Butter on Eater and I always like to make room for food created by a Top Chef contestant. So it was on my list as a must try and we had the opportunity the morning we left Vancouver.
I had the Hawaiian Luau and my partner got the Avocado-Me. They were both absolutely outstanding. You look at these sandwiches in the pictures and you expect huge and overwhelming. They are huge, they are overwhelming, BUT the brioche loaf is super light and fluffy like a Japanese milk bread. It plays the perfect role of a warm soft pocket for all the goodness inside. And the inside was SO good! My eggs were perfectly scrambled, the fry on the spam was just right and it (as expected) provided all the salt needed. With cheddar and kewpie it was wonderfully cheesy and creamy and the seaweed brought all the flavor around on the Hawiian theme. I also had a few bites of the Avocado-Me and it was just as fantastic.
Because my partner picked these up on the go I cannot speak to the restaurant itself, but the location is pretty excellent if you plan to visit the downtown area or want to stop off on your way out to the park. I love breakfast and I love breakfast sandwiches and I will be dreaming about these Egg Toasts for a long, long time. As a traveler, I know it can be hard to turn down the often-available free hotel breakfast, but this is worth every coin for a sandwich you will not soon forget. Absolutely do...

Came to have lunch recently and had the burger with fries. The burger tasted similar to the patties you could get from the Costco freezer section. Liked that included fresh veggies in. The bread broke apart too easily and didn't hold the patty well. The patty was a good size.
The fries were the highlight. Super crispy and well seasoned.
2022 review:
If google gave me the option of giving this place a 3.5/5 I could. This cute little cafe in the Shaw tower has lots of sandwich choices and lunch choices. Not to mention a beautiful little courthouse outside. I had the matcha latte and the Hawaiian egg toast.
The 3/5 is strictly for the Hawaiian egg toast as the egg was creamy and delicious and the spam wonderfully crispy but the bread got soggy so quickly and kind of just melted into the paper. The combination of egg, spam and seaweed is a total classic.
Matcha latte was definitely a 3.5/5 - not overly sweet but I wish there was a bit more matcha to make it stronger (just a tad).
The service was super friendly and accommodating. I loved the packaging - very cute and it also made the sandwich easy to eat.
Can't wait to be back to try the chicken...
Read moreI just had breakfast at the bread and butter cafe and I am totally disappointed. Whoever wrote good reviews of this joke of a place must have been related to the owners. The tables were not clean at all . Got the staff to clean our table and they cleaned ours but left the rest dirty. They are young and totally lazy and unprofessional. Thats just the service. Now lets talk about the meal . Bacon was luke warm and the toast came out dry . Had to ask for butter and they come out with a container with a tablespoon of margarine in it. Had to ask for salt and pepper and they came out with a small container of salt and pepper together that I had to sprinkle on with my fingers. Deep fried Mcdonalds hash browns in old oil. I would gave had a better breakfast at McDonald’s for sure. A terrible experience. They must want only to go orders. If I could of gave 0 stars I would . So in closing I just showed the supposed manager of this place the reviewand honestly she just didnt care …. STAY...
