Every time I come back, me and my family go for either lunch or dinner. Today was no exception. With friendly staff and delicious food, it's no wonder the atmosphere is always bustling. Today, we ordered four things: Soya Beef Fried Noodle; Baked Pork Chop with Curry Sauce with Rice; French Toast; and my favourite, Beef Brisket Fried Noodle. Soya Beef Fried Noodle is a typical order for Hong Kong-styled cafés and is pretty hard to mess up. Café Gloucester's version was pretty standard as well. I found theirs to be less greasy and salty as other restaurant's, which although I'm not quite used to, I definitely appreciate from the health perspective. Baked Pork Chop with Curry Sauce with Rice is a nice mix-up from the usual tomato sauce variety. I like both versions from Café Gloucester because they somehow are able to keep their pork chop nice and crispy despite the sauce, a feat not easily accomplished. The curry sauce this time was a nice change and wasn't too spicy. I did find it a little bit greasier than a tomato sauce but I understand that this is due to the fact that you need to use oil to fry up the curry powder to enhance its flavour. French Toast was yummy! I loved that it's made with kaya jam, something that's often replaced with peanut butter nowadays. I would have liked it more if it was crispier on the outside, but it was good nonetheless. Now to my favourite dish - Beef Brisket Fried Noodles. This is another change up from your average Cantonese Fried Noodle. It still has the crispy base but with a different sauce - the stewed beef brisket sauce! I really love the combination. I found that the beef brisket to be soft and tender and the sauce was just right! Café Gloucester is definitely worth giving a try! Its busy ambience is reminiscent of a typical Hong Kong café, but cleaner and with nicer employees!

This Hong Kong tea cafe may not be much to look at from the outside, but on the inside during the busier hours of the day is a bustling comforting restaurant filled with Cantonese wait staff and conversations, and Hong Kong tea cafe smells. The extensive menu offers many Hong Kong style meals, enough to satisfy anyone who misses or wants to try a classic type of Hong Kong cafe. Prices are not the cheapest but portions are reasonably large, and credit cards can only be used for transactions above $20. I ordered the classic Baked Pork Chop Rice with Tomato, and though a little on the pricey side, it was as delicious as it should be. The dish has a base of fried rice that was topped by tender crumbed pork chop and a tomato sauce that was full of flavour, only enhanced with the baking. I also ordered the Yuenyeung Hong Kong style coffee and tea and of a good strength of each flavour, this was also comforting. Overall, this is an authentic Hong Kong style tea cafe offering various Hong Kong style meals in the heart of Vancouver.

Not really one to post food reviews, but just extremely disappointed with this dish and don't want to see others waste $45 on this "combo" meat plate. The steak was less than an inch thick. Asked me for wellness level, when cooking anything other than well done isn't possible. The fish is just cheap Costco frozen filet. Tastes very low quality. Not looking for top end fish but this is just embarassing. The sausage is just generic cheap sausage. No comment but not really an issue, just not noteworthy. The lamb was actually decent, it was cooked well and was edible, but the experience was ruined because it was smaller than the potatoes the dish came served with. I didn't even touch my pork chop. It was completely buried in pepper. Not edible and half of it was just fat. For $45 this dish is an absolute joke. I normally have a decent experience at this establishment but this left a literal bad taste in my mouth. Going to eat elsewhere. Salt on the wound, the complimentary bread at the start of the meal was stale as if it's sat on a counter for awhile before serving. Reminiscent of a microwaved bun dehydrated and left out too long. Save yourself the headache and just order a baked spaghetti or something, can't go wrong with those here.

This Hong Kong-style café has been a long-standing establishment in Vancouver, and I’ve visited it after COVID. Unfortunately, this time, the experience was quite disappointing. The food quality has significantly declined, and the portion sizes are shockingly small. I ordered the tomato sauce spaghetti, and the plate was so shallow that it felt like a kid-sized portion compared to other places. The other dishes weren’t much better— the chicken noodle soup we ordered was bland and lacked any flavor. The one decent dish was the Portuguese chicken rice, but even that had very little chicken in it. Considering the prices are around $20 per dish, the lunch portions were surprisingly small and not worth the price. Additionally, the service felt rushed. The servers were busy and kept clearing our dishes while there were still a few bites left, which made it feel like they were urging us to leave quickly. The overall environment was uncomfortable, and it seemed like they were rushing everyone out the door. Overall, the food quality and portion sizes, combined with the rushed atmosphere, made this a very disappointing visit.

Cafe Gloucester is not our go-to HK-style cafe but a quality one in the neighborhood nearby. Perfect if we want a quick HK snack and drink. We often have French Toast and Hong Kong Style Cripsy Pun. Every HK-style safe makes their French toast in a slightly different way. Cafe Gloucester has a lovely custard filling in their French toast. Hong Kong Style Crispy Bun is crispy and chewy. We like it. Both snacks come with a hot drink for free. We always order a hot mix of coffee and milk tea and a hot almond milk drink. You need to pay an extra $1.5 for a cold drink instead. The average price might be on the high-end side, but they are at a convenient location. We always order snacks here, so not too bad for us. Some of the combos on their menu are more than $30, big serve, though.

Café Gloucester used to be good before the pandemic and boasted in their curry beef brisket. So I decided to come for breakfast to see if they were still good. They have interesting combos where you can mix and match different menu items costing 15-20$. I ordered steak and eggs with hot Hong Kong milk tea and a friend ordered satay beef spaghetti in soup and luncheon meat egg sandwich. My order came and the server gave me chicken steak, which I did not order, but ate it without exchanging because I was too hungry. It was tender to the bite with a crispy fried edge crunch. The mushroom gravy was slightly salty, but overall was simple and complimented the chicken. The noodles were okay as well as the sandwich, nothing out of the ordinary, but simple Chinese comfort food.
