Head in here for a drink before joining the cherry blossom viewers over at David Lam park; and It's my first time visiting Chayuan. I think they make a great addition to Yaletown, as there isn't many boba places around.
First, I only try the brewed tea so that's where my opinion will come from. The tea flavor is SOLID - not overly sweet, very refreshing. Boba was chewy just right, and their homemade tea jelly is also delicious. It looks like they also serve ice cream, but I will definitely come back for the drink. They also sell coffee and bubble waffle.
The price is decent for Vancouver, actually cheaper than another popular chain I usually get from. I hope they keep the price this way because in this economy I don't want to feel guilty getting my boba fix π§π
There are some high stool for in-store seating (did not see the tables like in other photos) , but the decor, organization, and branding could use some work. With their drink quality, I sure hope the store can bring a livelier or more modern atmosphere as they carry on.
At last, I want to give them 5 star but didn't have a good experience with the cashier. The store wasn't that busy but they seemed very overwhelmed. While taking my order, they sorta yelled at me when I told her she got my order wrong on the screen. Did not love the attitude, and I hope it was just a bad day. Meanwhile, the other staff handing out my drink was kind, and I love everything about my drink so I probably won't stop me from...
Β Β Β Read moreWe stopped by Cha Yuan θΆε in Yaletown and had a delicious treat! ππ§
Cha Yuan uses real fruit and fresh ingredients, and we can taste the quality of their teas. The shop itself is bright, clean, and cozyβperfect for a quick treat or relaxing break. The staff was super welcoming and helpful, which made the experience even better.
Here's what we tried:
πΉ Mango Slush Cheese Foam (with tapioca pearls)βSo refreshing! The mango flavour was fruity and real, not artificial. The cheese foam on top was creamy and smooth, and the tapioca pearls were nice and chewy. Great combo!
π₯€ Brown Sugar Pearl Latte (with grass jelly)βWe switched the pearls for their housemade grass jelly and loved it. The latter was rich but not too sweet, and it's even caffeine-free, which is awesome if you're avoiding caffeine.
π§ Bubble Waffle with MochiβThis was a fun surprise! Crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, with soft mochi in each bite, it's perfect for a light dessert!
We look forward to returning to try their Avocado Cheese Foam series next!

Β Β Β Read moreMy husband and I visited for the first time today and were very excited to find a bubble tea shop that offers oat milk (and at no extra charge, which is awesome). We're big bubble tea enthusiasts and have tried a ton of drinks and a ton of different places. I had the Hojicha milk tea with oat milk, and thought it was pretty good. Hojicha could have been a little bit stronger, but it was one of the better Hojicha bubble teas I've had compared to some other local places. Pearls weren't anything special but they were fine. Unfortunately my husband was unable to finish his Coffee Milk Tea after a few sips. I gave it a try and thought it tasted pretty bad, not really like coffee, and the powdered milk had a strangely nutty taste to it. I think they would be better off using fresh espresso and milk rather than powders. An espresso-based oat milk latte with brown sugar pearls would be nice to see on the menu. Other than that, the staff was very friendly and helpful. I'd like to give Cha Yuan another try with some of the other drinks, so I can hopefully come back and give a better review.
Update: owner never responded to our attempts to get in touch after they offered to...
