This review is regarding their food not the physical establishment itself. It's about the service I received after advising them of a mistake they made.
I had ordered quite a bit of food for take out amounting to about $280. A member of my family took out a portion of egg foo young and began to eat it. As they ate, they noticed that the food was a bit chewy. When they spit out whatever was in their mouth they noticed that it was an entire napkin that had been rolled or folded into the dish.
An entire napkin was found in the dish and we did not know what it was used for prior to it being in the dish. It was a sanitary issue as well as choking hazard.
Needless to say our entire party was disgusted at the sight and we decided that we did not want to take any chances with the other food so we ended up throwing everything out.
I have been coming to this location and restaurant since I was a child and this is the first time something like this has ever happened.
After advising the team at Chongqing that this happened they refused to provide any refund but instead comp the next 2 dishes when we order again. I said that was unacceptable and that my entire next order would have to be comped.
After not receiving a response to the 2nd email that I sent I went there to speak to them in person. The team recognized me and acknowledged that we come there often as well as order take out frequently.
The next offer was 2 free dishes and 10% off the entire next order. I advised that was still unacceptable and I requested my next order to be comped.
They said no, so at that point I informed them that I would no longer be ordering from them or any of their other locations. I also would be informing family and friends not to order from them as well.
I don't think the compensation I asked for was unreasonable but I think their response was lacking and there really was no customer service rendered. Clearly, our family's years of loyalty meant nothing to them.
All in all if you find something in your food no matter how disgusting all you'll receive is a free dish next time providing you haven't received food...
Read moreHosted my August 2018 end of summer office dinner with about ten guests. Ordered a good number (nine plus soup) and variety of dishes. The first issue was at the time of giving our order we politely asked if we could avoid pork on one dish. The waiter (older Chinese male) was just rude, mean and forthright in almost a "telling us off" tone that would be no substitutions on that dish. The tone of the waiter just turned off the party a bit. Second issue was the food, it was bland and tasteless and portions were small. I'm Asian and eat at many Asian restaurants and picked up on this immediately. The tofu was over cooked on the edges and tasteless inside. The vegetables were limp and over sauced. The seafood hot pot had very little seafood and what there were very small pieces. The sizzling beef dish was very under sized for the price. The Singapore vermicelli dish was also bland, didn't have the spiciness that dish normally possesses and the dish was practically just all noodles without any garnishing. The chicken fried rice dish lacked flavour and was overly greasy. They were obviously cutting a lot of corners with the quality of the food. And to top it off, the bill was just over $200.00 which seemed pricey for a restaurant of this low calibre. The server (older Chinese Male) who took payment didn't even say thank you at the end. The female servers were friendly enough but the older males who stand around the bar should find another line of work other than hospitality. Poor service and poor food, I could never return. Don't waste your time or money by going...
Read moreI had a party of 26 (that had to get 3 tables to fit) come in on Friday evening. Most of us actually managed to find parking in the back or within one block. It was for a birthday. Food was absolutely amazing. My table had 7 people and some of us had dietary restrictions but we managed to each decide to split the shrimp fried rice, bbq pork and shrimp fried rice, crispy chow mein with beef and broccoli, crispy chow mein with beef and black bean sauce, sweet and sour chicken, and the honey garlic beef. I’ve never had honey garlic beef from a restaurant before (I usually choose ginger beef) and I think it’s my new favourite it was so delicious! Everything else was super delicious as well. I also ordered just a bowl of chicken corn soup. Was not too flavorful needed some chili oil or black pepper however I was not able to ask as they don’t really tend to your table. We were not asked once how the food was or if we needed anything. I actually had the corn soup after I was done everything even though I wanted to start with it because it was impossible to waive them down. I feel as though this kind of service is expected in these restaurants but it was still a bit irritating. However the lack of service will NOT stop us from coming back again and again as my family have been coming here for years since I was a child. They let us split the bill 7 ways and each person at my table paid $16 plus tip. which this price really can’t be beaten for how much food we had! Thank you...
