Donair Dude — Restaurant in Vancouver

These guys rock. Always really nice, generous helpings, delicious food. Fries are made fresh, always hot. I see them cleaning the stations VERY often and I feel pretty confident that everything is super clean and sanitary, gloves seem to be worn at all times and hair is always back/tidy. Probably one of the most sanitary meals you can get around and for a great price.

Donair poutine is top-notch, I’ve tried all of the meat toppings they offer and they’re very well seasoned and delicious. Yummy sauces as well. I can’t speak for their regular offerings as I haven’t had them myself but I’ve been with people many times who have gotten an actual donair and always had really good things to say about it.

Only negative is the packaging of their take away food. This is consistent among all locations so I won’t review this location negatively for it. They use a press to heat-seal a paper top to the paper container you get for poutine and while it’s easy to open and eat out of, it has no way of really closing back up again which is really inconvenient unless you wanna try taping it closed. Not a problem if you’re the type who can eat a big portion in one go. Their previous packaging was a plastic lid and paper bottom I believe which wasn’t that much better as the food is so fresh and hot that it would deform the plastic lid and once again keep it from sealing shut. I’m happy for their reduction of plastic (and the paper packaging has nice graphics) but it’s not great for eating on the go.

All in all five stars love these guys. I hope they’re paid well and feel appreciated cause they’re pillars to all us late night workers trying not to starve to death on...

They charge a can of pop for 2.90 … that same can of pop is sold for an average of 1$. Pizza Hut also sells the same can of pop for 1.55… Donair dude also has one of the most expensive donairs in the city. The pricing of it doesn’t make sense. Meanwhile they make it for next to nothing. So like. You can support a business that causes inflation due to greed. Or eat somewhere else.

And as for their silly response to the review. The fact of the matter is. You are over priced. You give optional portions for additional funds and the reply/response to the review shows that you know what’s going on. Don’t get me wrong. The first location or two was cool. But then you guys franchised to the point where you don’t really care for the customers, nore even the quality of food. Just profit. I won’t get into the details of the service because to be honest, you just hire students or people who accept the basic minimum wage to live.

But here’s a plot that twists my shawarma… you “welcome comparison” to other prices but won’t change them nore give a better price / price match. You upsell and basically double charge for things like WATER or a CAN of pop. You also are saying IF we get a meal it will be cheaper… by like 0.25 cents. So yeah. That’s the truth and weather this review sits with you or not. I really do not have any care to be served by a company that doesn’t understand nore...

I frequent this place a few times a week and their food and service is second to none. They always provide courteous and friendly service along with their delicious food. Not sure what the negative reviews are about and I believe they are uncalled for. Let see you try and deal with homeless people that are very belligerent and always harassing you for money with muttered threats projected your way. I have offered to buy the homeless people food instead of giving them money but they refuse and become aggressive, disturbing and frightening. Doesn't matter what time I come here, the staff are always working hard and provide awesome food and service. If the negative people were so concerned, then they should have called the Police. You don't know what it's like dealing with aggressive people. I do. I work in the downtown east side and its not easy. All I have to say is keep up the good work, food and service!!!
