This was our first time going to Mangos and we are super disappointed with the service and would not celebrate a birthday/ go there with a big group again.
I hope this review is taken in to consideration and improvements are made....
Making a reservation: We called ahead to inquire about getting a table to avoid waiting in line, I told the guy it was a group of 17 and we wanted to make sure we could get one and we didn't have to wait in line, he said the restaurant is for 200 ppl and it won't be a problem, when we got there we told the bouncers and they said they didn't have a table and wouldn't go ask anyone inside/ have zero care for ppl who want to buy bottles. If you want to make a reservation for dinner time for a bigger group the min spend per person is $50 and you lose the table at 10, after 10 it's $300 for a bottle for every 6 people (do yourself a favour, make a reservation)
Paying ahead of getting the table and having to wait outside for over an hour after your credit card has been charged and the table is ready: One of the ladies that does the entry cover came and found us a table for a min charge of $600 (we spent $750 for a bottle of Don Julio + Grey Goose, this should give you an idea of pricing) and they took our payment but the bouncers decided to let us in 3 at a time ... Even when the door lady kept asking them to let the group in ...
The dance lessons: We arrived before 9:00 to participate in the 9:30 "dance lesson" the lady was great but the lesson is super super short and the dancefloor is extremely crowded and unfortunately half of our group didn't get in until closer to 10:00pm so they missed the lesson....
The table/ service: The bottle service was very standard, no frills, just two bottles with a bunch of chasers, our server was very nice and polite but she was as slammed and didn't get us limes and the only water we got all night was jugs of carbonated water ... Everyone bought additional drinks from the bar... Again she was super nice but it's clear they are understaffed and for the amount of money we spent the service should have been better/ would have been nice to be able to order directly from her rather than having to go to the bar / this would have helped up the bill + get more tips!
They servers/ bar tenders/ door ladies are nice and there is so much potential but sooooo much room for improvement if you want to get repeat customers and...
Read moreWORST SERVICE EVER! I REPEAT THE WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!! On December 20th around 9:59 PM, my three friends and I went to this restaurant, hoping to have a good time. One of my friends had been there before and recommended their cocktails. First, they didn’t tell us there was a cover charge just to enter. We were okay with it, though it felt off.
Once inside, we sat at a table and waited. Three servers passed by, but none acknowledged us. We waited for 10 minutes, and no one came to take our order. Finally, my friend called one of the servers, but she ignored us. Five minutes later, a guy came by and told us it would cost $300 to eat at the table. If we didn’t want to pay that, we could leave if someone with a reservation showed up. We were fine with that, but we weren’t told about this charge beforehand.
Just as we were about to order, the waitress came over. When she realized we hadn’t reserved a $300 table, she turned her back on us and walked away. By then, we were frustrated and just wanted to leave. I’ve been to many places in Vancouver, and none of them gave me such terrible service.
We asked for a refund since we had only sat down and didn’t get any service. I approached the front desk girl who took our payment of $23.53. She was incredibly rude, yelling at us and saying it wasn’t her problem. When my friend asked for a refund, she yelled at him and even touched him while swearing in Spanish. I don’t speak Spanish, but I’ve worked with Spanish speakers, so I knew what she was saying.
She finally said she’d call the host. When the host arrived, he started by saying, "We have the charges listed on our website, and every nightclub in Vancouver does this," which isn’t true. I’ve been to many clubs and never experienced this (Even if they were going to charge you, they would let you know beforehand when the bouncer is checking your id). He said he couldn’t give us a refund but would offer us a table at the bar. I pointed out how rude the front desk girl was, but he didn’t address it.
We didn’t want to stay any longer, so we left. The host didn’t care, and we were just frustrated. I can’t believe I paid $23 for nothing. As a consumer, if I don’t get service, I should be entitled to a refund, but they denied it. I feel so frustrated and sad even in a place like Vancouver, we have this kind of restaurant where they just want to take your money and not give...
Read morecame here on friday for a birthday party, left disappointed.
we had reserved a table for 10, after being served an appetizer and while waiting for the last couple to arrive, we were approached and asked to move to a different table.
while we said this was okay, we tried to explain to staff that our reservation is for 10, and the new table would not be able to fit all of us, let alone all our meals. the manager? I believe, seemed like he was purposefully misunderstanding us, insisting that they need our reserved table for a “larger” party (to our understanding, were a walk in group that was the same size as ours). after agreeing to move and explaining our group size, they leave and just sort of stand near but away from our table, watching and waiting for us to move ourselves along with our served food and drinks.
after a few minutes, they came back over and once again asked us to move, we told them no problem but at this point asked them to help us move. once we did move to the new table, it was unable to comfortably hold all of us as the table was clearly made for 6-8 people rather than our 10, who were all present at this point.
after this, service was poor. orders were not taken all at the same time- I suspect to make up for the lack of table space. meals and drinks were forgotten, some people didn’t get to order until they went up to the bar, and while 3 people were serving our table, they were barely helping us. service was actually so bad that we were going to adjust our tip, only to find gratuity was already included on the bill. it clicked for our group that this poor service was due to the staff knowing they were getting that tip anyways. it was disappointing, reserving a table, just to be pushed out of the way for a walk in group and barely served, all for this restaurant to make the most money they could. the staff were also clearly very unhappy and it brought our group down.
do not come here with a reservation and expect them to honour it, their sales come first.
atmosphere was great, the...
