Chaotic and unjustly overhyped. The supreme croissants are alright but definitely not worth the wait, especially if there’s a high chance you won’t get the flavour(s) you want or any at all.

The team is extremely disorganized with no coordination between the staff. While waiting in line, I’ve witnessed many mistakes. The couple in front of me ordered a matcha croissant and the lady packed them a mont blanc. Another lady ordered and had been waiting 15 minutes for a rose lychee croissant but was then told they actually don’t have another batch coming out and is sold out for the day. Another customer ordered a cappuccino supreme croissant but the cashier rang in a cappuccino, so the poor lady waited for nothing because they were out of cappuccino croissants by the time they realized.

As for my own experience, I’m usually quite understanding as I used to work in hospitality, but this place has one of the worst customer service. They have a 2 supreme croissant per person policy but just before we (my bf and I) got to the front of the line, they stuck a little piece of paper on top of that so now it says 1 per person. I was hoping to get some for my family. They’re a first come first serve cafe as they don’t take preorders or allow prepaid orders, so I find it unfair to so abruptly change their policy when there are customers who have been waiting 20mins+ already. The cashier kept letting other customers cut in front of us because they had to fix orders that they previously messed up without any communication to us (I only knew because I overheard the conversations). We finally ordered and without asking if we wanted it to go or for here (we managed to grab a table), the staff just threw our croissants into a takeout box and ran back into the kitchen.

Last but not least, the mont blanc hot chocolate is underwhelming. It tasted like overly sweet premix with whipping cream, chestnut paste, and a few gold flakes on top. There’s also no quality control as the amount of cream inside the croissants were inconsistent (mont blanc had overflowing cream and black sesame had barely any and without the cream it had no taste). I also noticed that the black sesame croissants were smaller than the other flavours the time I went.

Will...

As someone who is usually pretty generous with my reviews (go ahead and check my other ratings) This was one of the worst customer service experiences I've had - by far. Not just for my wife and I but the line of other people waiting as well.

My wife and I came to the restaurant at 3:40 pm excited to order a hot chocolate croissant. The lady at the front told us to come back at 4pm and they would have some ready.

My wife and I walked the street, came back in at 4:02 pm.. and here's what we see:

5-6 girls sitting off on the side bench 2 girls in line in front of us someone walks in straight to the back and grabs a hot chocolate croissant?? the cashier walks into the back for 5 minutes, having a conversation in the back (and through the curtains I see her pointing our way) two of the girls off to the side get their hot chocolate orders she ignores the other people waiting in line and tells two other girls on the side that she will have enough for two of them and they can pay (skipping everyone else in line) she tells the two other girls in line in front of us that she wont have any until 5pm and to come back then -when I tell her that we were told to come back at 4 she acts like she doesnt recognize us and gives us the most impersonal customer service answer ever..."all I can tell you right now is we don't have any and we will have more at 5pm"

The two girls in front of us had taken transit from pretty far. My wife and I were feeling bad. No matter how good the food might be, I don't understand how you can run a business in this manner. Nobody should be supporting customer service of this manner. They wasted 30 minutes of our time only to tell us to come back an hour later and "try again".... sad and a well deserved one star. On a Monday during the weekday by the way.

I encourage everyone reading this not to support this type of service. Plenty of other cafes on the same street much more deserving...

I came to try the Hot Chocolate Fest matcha mont blanc hot chocolate, a white matcha hot chocolate topped with matcha vermicelli made from chestnut paste. I'm not much of a hot chocolate drinker but I love matcha and chestnut so this was one of the few Hot Chocolate Fest drinks that caught my attention. The drink lived up to my expectation: the matcha was good, and the vermicelli had a really cool texture and nutty flavour that made it super fun to drink. What actually stole my heart at this cafe was the sandwich I bought to accompany the hot chocolate! I got the "vegan" sandwich on the supreme croissant (the filling of the sandwich was the vegan filling, but this sandwich was not actually vegan because the croissant contains butter - you can get it on sourdough for an actual vegan sandwich). The croissant was amazing, with a crispy caramelized shell and tender inside. The way that the dough flaked with each bite was so satisfying. The veggie filling was simple and straightforward and that was fine because the croissant was just so extraordinary. Good service from the staff, who brought my drink and croissant to my table, and also made sure to check when I ordered to make sure I knew that the croissant wasn't vegan. As the name implies, the cafe is on the smaller side, but there's a decent amount of comfortable seating available and I had no problem getting a table. If you see croissant crumbs all over the floor like I did, do not be alarmed because they do sweep them up often, this is evidently just what happens when you have lots of people eating flaky croissants. I was there around noon on a weekday and they were out of the filled supreme croissants. I heard someone else come in and ask about them and they said they'd have more later, so I guess they bake them...

Known for their supreme croissants (croissant pastry filled with flavoured creme such as london fog, mont blanc - aka chestnut, cappuccino and matcha. This is more of an asian style croissant that is chewier on the inside and hence less flaky to hold the piped creme inside. Personally prefer the flaky layers of a traditional french croissant. Mont blanc: Flavour was too weak to distinct that it was a chestnut with the exception of the bite that had half a chestnut. London fog and matcha flavour profile was true to form and no guessing with flavour you will be eating, but I would have like less filling to enjoy the pastry more. The latte ($6.95 with oat milk - highway robbery) and americano were on the weaker side for the bean. Would not order thia again. Sourdough grilled cheese with 2 types of cheeses. Very thin slices that is panini pressed to order. Ok. Would have liked to see thicker slices to let the bread shine thru the cheeses. Butter croissant was the same dough as the supremes. The lamination layers in my opinion is way to thick. The crispy exterior is from a sugar glaze brushed on than the butter shine you get on the french version. When I'm earing a croissant, I want to be able to only eat over a sink as it just flakes everywhere than peeling the layers off like a monkey bread. Overall, if you want the hype be ready to line up as the processing is slow and limited quantities and are generally available 30 min after opening time. I would wait till the hype dies down to give it a try. Now that I have, it's out of my system and moving on to better options in town.
