Food and drink are good, no issues. I have never written a review for anything, but the service I received today was unlike anything I've ever encountered.
When I ordered two lattes, one with soy milk and another with almond (for which I happily paid the extra 0.70 each), the male barista that has been "serving coffee for 20 years" laughed at me, rolled his eyes, and repeatedly harassed me about my "difficult" order. Apparently, back in the day, there was "only one type of milk". He basically made me feel like a stupid hippie in front of the entire lineup.
It was so shocking that I had to stop and ask him, "Are you making fun of me?". Then he said "Well, it would just obviously be way easier for me if I didn't have to use two different jugs for two different milks".
Let's get something straight. I don't give a f* about what is easier for you, I'm paying you for a goddamn latte, and this was a relatively simple order. You work in the service industry. If you don't want to make a $5 custom latte for your customers for the next 20 years, I suggest you change jobs, perhaps to something you're actually good at.
I will never return to this coffeehouse, simply because I never want to be in that...
Read moreWhat really makes Melriches such a staple for Davie street is the mix of excellent customer service and outstanding fellow patrons. Because this is such a hot spot for the LGBTQ+ community, the people surrounding you while you sit and enjoy your cup of coffee and delightful meals, are always so friendly and vibrant. This may not be the most 'instagrammable' experience in terms of decor, but the feeling you get that this place serves, is top notch. I would like to come back to take photos of their other menu items because I don't feel like my pics are doing this place justice. Otherwise, I highly recommend this place if you're new to the city, are not afraid to be open minded with your company, and enjoy striking up a conversation with a...
Read morePros: neighbourly atmosphere, staff generally nice, cute vibes, food feels more like what you would get at a family members house which I kinda like, not amazing but made with love.
Cons: NO BATHROOM. Which I am pretty sure is illegal for restaurants with seating and probably a way to prevent “campers” (people that want to sit for extended periods). Used to love coming here but won’t anymore unfortunately due to lack of facilities (this has been going on more than 6 months). Also coffee is not great, often burnt tasting which can be from not cleaning the machine daily/properly so you have to add a bunch of...
