DO NOT place your order over the phone. Their level of english is not proficient. I ordered the family size green onion garlic chicken. Had to repeat my phone number 3 times and they still got it wrong so I didn’t bother to repeat it again since they got my name. When I went to pick it up, the staff had input it as soy garlic chicken. I told her it wasn’t what I ordered and she didn’t understand what I was saying exactly. She just refused to admit it was her mistake and wouldn’t change it. I asked to buy a side of sauce and green onion then and turn it into green onion garlic chicken myself. She said it’s not possible. I was so furious I left. It was pointless to argue since their level english was not adequate enough for them to understand me or for them to get their point across.
JAN 6th, 2023: Another unpleasant experience. I had 9 stamps on my stamp card and 10 stamps equals a free half order of boneless original chicken. I ordered a half order of soy garlic chicken to get the 10th stamp. Then I asked to redeem the free one while I’m already there. The cashier just said, next time not this time. I asked her why? it doesn’t say anywhere on the card I cannot redeem it at the same visit and must be next visit. At this point the cashier is so confused and couldn’t understand anything I just said. She only replied again, next time. I was more furious with the fact that they hire people that can’t even communicate and understand what customers are saying. It’s like talking to a wall. I just wanted to redeem the chicken, get rid of the stamp card and have nothing else to do with this place anymore. I simply gave my stamp card to a friend outside, he went in and redeemed it for me. See how pointless it is to make a customer to redeem it next time? What difference does it make? I will never come back here ever again now that I don’t have their stamp...
Read moreIt's been two weeks since ce I ate at NeNe Chicken on Davie Street. I can STILL hear the non-stop NeNe Chicken song and see the accompanying dance moves ( yes, dance moves) that were on a repeat cycle on the blaring TV in the small place. It was non-stop alternating Korean ads for their Chicken. Interestingly you NEVER really see the chicken. I was there by some bizarre twist of fate as I'm vegan. They had a sidewalk sandwich board saying they make VEGAN CHICKEN too. Weakened from my last months struggles I went in. I was the only one there and ordered to eat inside. I sat down, was brought something that looked like wet sugar cubes that turned out to be pickled turnip or something. Very sweet,it was crunchy and to me, totally new. My vegan chicken arrived and was basically a massive order I could have shared with four others. Just "chicken", no potato or other sort of vegetable that might accompany Western chicken type places. It wasn't bad. I had a grin on my face from trying to understand the very childish ads for NeNe chicken....Are there any Korean ADULTS? It was very weird. Fo instance, a Korean guy wirh dyed reddish blond hair, who was supposed to be Trump (?) discovered how "delicious" their chicken was...girl groups in tiny skirts that tried to emulate British school girl uniforms, all dancing about.... the chicken! Boy bands with at least 30 members all "very individual" dying their hair blonde or wearing nailpolish(?) all probably very famous in Korea.....it was annoying at first, then quite funny. After an hour of this type of "too happy" I'd be ready to slit my wrists though. Will I be back? No. But was it good? It was okay. Maybe good for take-out but there are much better options, more serene environments, Thai places for instance, nearby that give you a much more complete meal and much tastier, nearby. Quieter too!! I mean, go...
Read moreNeNe Chicken, originating from South Korea, offers a variety of Korean flavours, highlighted by their signature fried chicken. We tried their signature dishes during our visit, including a half-and-half combo of ORIGINAL and SWICY fried chicken. Each bite was a delightful explosion of crunchy goodness on the outside and juicy tenderness inside. But NeNe Chicken isn't just about fried chicken; we also explored their NENE K-TOWN Menu.
The TTEOK-BOK-KI, topped with a layer of melted CHEESE, was a true highlight. The rice cakes were soft and chewy, perfectly complemented by the subtly spicy yet slightly sweet sauce. Pairing it with their Korean Fried Chicken elevated the experience to new heights.
The HIGHWAY UDON was a comforting dish served in a warm soup with fried tofu slices. After indulging in the rich flavours of the fried chicken, the udon soup helps balance our taste buds.
The HAWAIIAN-TERRI BURGER features a crispy chicken patty paired with a slice of pineapple. The combination was so unexpected, with the sweetness of the pineapple complementing their fried chicken. Who would think of putting pineapple into the burger? Brilliant!
What sets NeNe Chicken apart is not just the quality of their food but also their affordability.
