Service : Okay. Not a high end one. Not a delicate one, but Okay for the casual place such as Cactus* or Joe*. Atmosphere : Okay except the creaky table. They fixed with a coaster in the end. Do not recommend, the chef experience tables at all. The seating itself was not comfortable above all. Watching the kitchen was a good part, but you gotta need to seat comfortably and I could feel the actual heat from the kitchen. Foods : Mushroom pizza, the cauliflower dish, the Vongole pasta- All too salty....sorry when I say it is salty, it was really salty.

** The restaurant uses frozen factory made French fries ----- that is the same Mac-level fries with 5 times higher prices.

Mushroom pizza, 4/5 in the first 10 mins and 1/5 after 10 mins. I thought they used The Sourdough bread for the pizza. It became really touch to chewy after 10 mins. The server(not the cook) put olive? oil before serving on the entire pizza. It became lots of oil drained on the pizza pan once we finished ours. There was no need to put any extra oil on top especially that much.

The cauliflower dish, 2/5 very salty. small portions. Turmeric itself has strong taste and natural saltness. No need to use extra salt here. The texture was nice and crunch. I thought it was boiled and pan fried which could be a nice touch for cauliflowers.

The clam pasta, 3/5, small portions for large sized, The clams were perfectly got sand out. The noodles were cooked too long. It was not Al dente at all. The flavor with butter and spices were okay. Again, too salty. They might use a salted butter and also added extra salt on the noodle and the sauce.

Importantly, I saw the serving staffs (Not the kitchen staffs) did the final touch on some of the dishes with the olive oil(pardon me if it was not olive oil), everywhere, and add some garnishes!! by himself from the serving station.

How come did the Serving staffs garnish dishes?

Did they even wash their hands before touching the foods with bare hands after billing customers? NO, as far as I was seating in the experience table so called and watched all during our dinning. Ex The line cook put the 8! toasted breads on the serving area. The server! put olive oils all over on the breads and put 4 pieces on each Hummus dish by himself with BARE hands and brought them out. Same for the Mussel dish. - One server even tasted this dish before serving out. Why? He put the spoon away, but how come did he even do that? It was only for one mussel dish. Same for the some pizzas. Why did the server put olive oils all over before serving?

No need to put to extra oil on the well made wood fired pizzas, especially. The dough was drenched in the oil. That shall be the choice of each customer. Do not need to use salted butter too much on the Clam pasta- the clams already have natural saltness.

The food portions were Okay when expecting the 2nd restaurant from the Hawksworth. (It's not big at all.) I won't comment about the prices. It's not their specialties.

We had to drink lots of water after all.

The food preparations seemed organized and well. Everything was in a container with a label.

Only from the view to the kitchen with my own eyes, Still ongoing young fellas under the name of the big tent of Hawksworth. If this was a fine dining, I would say No by all means.

This is a casual, semi fine dining. Adjusting the saltness and preparing dishes by the kitchen staffs only, I trust these guys could to do better job for sure.

‐‐‐-------------

Nope the guy handling the dishes opposite side of serving bar was not a chef. If it was, it would be more disappointment because he touched and brought the card machine to a table and came back, than touched dishes from your chefs.. By the way, the email address in the reply was even...

I've been meaning to check this place out for a while because their menu offers a lot of greens and vegetable dishes. My diet now is egg-free, wheat-free, and dairy-free, garlic free. The server dutifully took away my menu and came back with a marked up version. Out of 47 items on the savoury menu, there's only four items I can order. The server explained that their menu is designed for family-style dining, and that they will serve the raw and vegetables dishes first followed by the small and then large dishes. We ordered the Apple Salad, Roasted Cauliflower, Grilled Broccolini and King Salmon expecting the dishes to be served in that order. Of course, it didn't actually happen that way. The actual order that the food arrived gave us the impression that many items are pre-made, and heated, which my partner called 'airplane food'. Coupled with the fact that the menu says "We politely decline all requests to modify menu items", for sure, we are not going to get a real chef who can or is allowed to whip up something fantastic to meet my dietary limitations. Gluten free pasta is not offered. The roasted cauliflower and the king salmon were served first. Most health conscious folk know that fruits are best eaten before a meal for optimum digestion. So, it was very weird for our taste bud as well as our digestive system that the cold and very tart apple salad arrived as the last dish. The king salmon was superbly cooked, extremely juicy and tender inside, and crispy on top. Five stars for that. The German smashed potatoes were also quite delicious. I enjoyed the roasted cauliflower and found the sauce and seasoning quite exciting. Five stars. The broccolini was tough and undercooked, and did not deserve even one star. They really took the no modification serious, for a dairy free diet, there was cheese sprinkled on top of the broccolini. Very inconsiderate for people with food sensitivities. The apple salad, although refreshing, the vinaigrette was actually too tart and jarring after eating the hot salmon and roasted cauliflower. Another problem was that our table and others were too small for family style dining – if we had ordered more dishes, they wouldn't fit on our table. Vibes and environment get one star as we didn't see a particular table or corner that would feel more comfortable. It's not a place that we would order a bottle of wine to settle in for an evening of fine dining. The servers were efficient, but not endearing to the point where we would come back for more. Parking in this area was $14.50. Just to make sure, I checked to see if my foodie friends had a different experience. The comment that came back was "It has a vibe of posh pub with not much attention to the food. We tried twice and gave up." Well! I should have checked first and prevented...

Went here on a date night out downtown with my fiancée. We had issues finding reservations, but when the restaurant got back to us they managed to fit us in at exactly our desired time on a Saturday night! The restaurant has a heritage looking exterior and the interior is amazing as well. You enter the building and are greeted with high ceilings on the lower level, a classy bar in the corner, and clearly skilled mixologists working away on a variety of excellent cocktails. The service was impeccable and as I had not been before everything about the menu was clearly communicated and made for a very enjoyable meal. We ordered 4 different dishes based on our server’s recommendation that the menu is meant for sharing and we were more than satisfied with the 4 plates we received. First off was the Endive salad with blue cheese and I believe they were candied walnuts. This was probably the highlight of the night for me! The blue cheese was perfect with the dressing and not overpowering at all. Second was the fried chicken which we had both read about prior and it did not disappoint, I would highly recommend ordering this if it is your first visit! Third we had a newer dish from the menu, which was a dungeoness crav toasted with crème fraiche and watercress on top. This was the dish I was most excited for but unfortunately it wasn’t my favourite. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it, there was plenty of Dungeness crab on the toast and the mix with the crème fraiche and watercress was nice I just felt it couldve had more seasoning? Nonetheless, still a fantastic dis! Lastly was probably my least favourite dish of the night and it was a delicata squash dish I believe with chimichurri and crème fraiche as well. This dish just didn’t work for me. I don’t know if I was expecting the squash to be sweeter or if the chimichurri just didn’t work for me, but we still ate more than half the plate between the two of us. Finally, for cocktails I had this delicious fruit punch style drink called the Lavender Haze, had two just for good measure. My fiancée ordered a half bottle of one of their wines and she was very impressed and there was also a sommelier on site to pour! I will definitely go back to this place as the other tables pizza and pasta dishes also looked outstanding. Thanks for a...
