Reply to the owners reply: Dear owner, your reply is absolutely ridiculous and kind of sad to be honest. But with what you said you confirmed that you have nothing to do with italian cuisine. Marinara is not too boring and maybe you'd like to learn that simplicity is the main characteristic of italian dishes. I dont expect you to appreciate a bad review, even though mine was sincere and didn't want to insult you, and unfortunately I know very well that it won't change anything because it's too convenient for you to keep selling overpriced and bad quality food to your customers that can't see the difference. Good luck with your business.
----------‐-------------------------------------------------------------- Went yesterday with a group of friends. All the staff was really nice. Problem was the food. First, pizza didn't come out all together and by the time everyone had their pizza mine was cold.(and the place was basically empty, there was just another table beside ours)
Pizza was not good at all. For 20 dollars I would expect them to deliver a decent margherita, but this one was hard to swallow and overcooked, not to mention the tomato sauce was acidic. The ingredients they use are not good quality at all, my friend got sick because the oil they put on the tables is not good quality (and she just used it because she just couldn't swallow that piece of paper they call pizza.)
I ate it because I'm not gonna throw away money and didn't send it back because if they can't make margherita there's no chance the other food is better.
Also, I do not understand why they don't have marinara on their menu (which is literally the classic pizza toghether with margherita), but they have pizza with honey??? Really Novo?
I usually don't leave bad reviews and just never come back if I don't like a place, but I'm still mad at that pizza, I cant help it i'm italian.
If you're looking for authentic pizza go to Spaccanapoli,...
Read moreWe went to Novo for a mid-week lunch, just two of us. I chose this place as I've been struggling to find Vancouver Italian restaurants with more than one (pretty rudimentary) vegetarian option. The menu options looked good, and they didn't disappoint! Although we won't give it 5 stars, we'll definitely go back, and we'd definitely recommend others to try!
I went for a pasta special (squash and ricotta tortellini with toasted hazelnuts in a sage and brown butter sauce). It was delicious - I'd give it 5 stars if the butter had been taken a little further (it was still yellow and so a little oily). It was still a great dish, especially the toasted hazelnuts, and the thinness of the pasta. My partner had the pappardelle bolognese, and said it was great, but again take one star away as it could have been a little richer/had more depth. We also shared some focaccia which they cook in the pizza oven and so has lovely char; we both really enjoyed that. Alongside a little mimosa, it was a lovely meal. We both said we'd definitely come back - I need to try the pizza, and get dessert! - and would love to go in the evening and see what the energy and atmosphere is like.
Service was great - attentive but unintrusive, authentic and not...
Read moreThis restaurant is just a hard hard pass. First of all I would like to start by saying we were the only table in there at the time. If there’s any time where the service should be exceptional and they should be available to you and check on you and get your food to you in a timely matter and fill up your water glasses etc. would be when the restaurant is totally empty. Most the time the staff were all congregated around the bar just chitchatting amongst themselves we had to flag someone down to fill our water, flag someone down to bring a Peppermill that was not empty, and our meal took a very long time to arrive. The food: We ordered a Caesar salad and as other reviews have mentioned it was horrible. Some of the lettuce in it was wilted, The croutons come from a package and are the same little ones you get at Safeway, and the dressing was obviously bottled oily and not tasty in the slightest. Not sure why this restaurant could not take the time to make some beautiful croutons out of their focaccia bread but it was a real shame.
The pizza we ordered was the Americano it was average at best. It was quite doughy not crispy and really not great.
I would give this restaurant a zero stars if it...
