Used to quite enjoy cakes from here but after having a bday cake last night, we might never go back. Momâs bday dinner, we thought we would pay extra for a FRESH fruit 12x12 cake. What a huge disappointment âŚ. The cake top was decorated with a few melon balls, then it was all canned peaches slices and groups and groups of grapes. Omg how are you supposed to cut a bday cake with tons of grapes on top?? I was told FRESH fruit means in between the layers they will use real, fresh fruit. I think they used fresh fruit alright but it was a lot of the white part near the skin of the honey dew/cantelope. And the amount of fruit was almost invisible. We were basically just eating cake and cream⌠A ton of cream really. Waitress helped us cut up the cake and I happened to be the âluckyâ one to have a corner piece of the square cake. Wow, the amount of cream in my piece compared to the cake itself was about 2:1. Just super super disgusting.
It cost almost double the price to get a fresh fruit one(compared to canned fruit) and we were all really disgusted by the full cream. So never going back again. When I placed the order I told them Pls do not use grapes but they still did. So the cashier kindly took off $1 for me. Very generous. Itâs not the first time we found their cakes overly packed with too much cream, and they almost never really accommodate to customers request. And you can find strawberries everywhere now I donât know why they only opted for melons and canned peaches.
We have a big family so many many bday cakes to be consumed. Have tried all different fancy/local/high end low end bday cakes. Seniors all like cakes from Chinese bakery like this b/c their cakes are soft and spongey. But last night even my mom said we shouldnât buy from this...
Read moreHORRIBLE. My cousin bought a cake for my aunts birthday and was scammed. Weâve had trouble with this bakery before but my cousin gave them the benefit of the doubt and wanted to support their business BUT no one in our family will be going to this bakery again.
He pre ordered the cake a day before and expected a fresh cake when he went to pick it up the next day. When he went to pick up the cake he noticed that the mangos were a little discoloured but the bakery staff reassured him that it was due to oxidation and that it was freshly made. Since the appearance was not up to standard they gave him $10 off. This wouldâve been fine if not for the fact that the cake was COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY SPOILED. The diced mangoes inside the cake were grey and soggy AND the cake smelled like spoiled yogurt. My grandpa took one bite, spat it out and told everyone to stop eating it. This was not a freshly made cake and the audacity that they would sell a cake that was at least 4 days old is unbelievable. Stay away from this place because honestly I would give them 0...
Read moreThis bakery is one of my favorites. The bakery goods are all very good and in these days of pre-diabetic scares, they have cut down on the amount of sugar in their goods. That I've heard from the owner and is very responsible of him. The selection is always great but the only improvement is to not bag them so early in the day. Somehow when you bag them, it appears as though the goods are not fresh and possibly old. No need to do that because most of their goods sell out before the end of day. Another reason I like Pinehouse is the way they miniaturized the popular items. Instead of paying full price for them, you're paying more affordable prices but remind you, they are slightly smaller pieces than in other bakeries. Egg tarts for example or pineapple buns. They're very good and affordable. And bottom line, you don't want to eat so much...
