I recently stopped by The Mighty Oak Coffee for a quick visit, as I was in a hurry and needed to grab my coffee to go. The cinnamon bun was fresh and delicious, and the cappuccino was fantastic. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a place I’d normally love to spend more time in.
However, I’ve encountered an issue twice now: being asked to tip before receiving my coffee, only to then be overlooked by the staff. This raises a concern—if the service isn’t delivered promptly, it makes it hard to justify tipping in advance. For someone in a rush, this can turn what should be a quick stop into an unnecessary delay.
Overall, The Mighty Oak Coffee offers great products and a welcoming environment, but addressing this issue would ensure a more consistent and satisfying experience, especially for those who need to get in and...
Read moreI love the idea of a place like this. A small, independent coffee shop/market right in the heart of a neighborhood. Le Marche St. Georges is a great example of this concept executed well. The Mighty Oak however didn't really do it for me.

My entire time in the store (approximately 5 minutes, I ordered a sandwich which needed to be grilled) he spoke to me maybe twice, and each time for only a few words. Otherwise he was engrossed in talking with the regulars or talking with fellow staff. And it was bizarre, their convo would die down and he would find new things to talk about with them while I awkwardly stood around waiting for my order to be completed. Didn't say thank you or bye after he gave me my sandwich, didn't even make eye contact.

Read moreWe have been going to the Mighty Oak since it first opened and has since has been managed by newer owners. It has been a great part of the community where neighbours meet each other and people say hello to one another. The people who work there are friendly and make delicious coffee. They also sell great bread, homemade treats and sandwiches. The Brie and fig baguette is a favourite. You can also pick up kitchen basics like milk, eggs, flour, olive oil, cheese and Ernest Ice Cream! During COVID-19 they have done a great job in keeping their shop as safe as possible. People line up in a socially distanced manner outside and one customer goes in at a time. I look forward to when things improve and we can sit inside on a rainy day and drink hot chocolate or outside on one of their community benches when...
