Tonkotsu Ramen Tsukiya did not disappoint at all. Their noodles has a pleasant chew, while the broth is rich with a deep and complex pork flavour. On their own, both of these elements of the ramen were absolutely wonderful. However, as a dish, the noodles picked up the broth in a way that I have not seen other restaurants in the area achieving. Each mouthful of the noodles was coated in the soup, really making the separate elements work perfectly together.
Some individuals may find the broth to be too salty. I encourage you to ask the staff for less salt if this is a problem for you.
The pork chashu was also excellent. It was exceptionally soft, nearly melting as I ate it. I thought that the addition of pickled ginger was interesting and I found that the acidity helped to cut the fattiness of the meat and broth.
For the sides, I had the chashu bits as well as the beer and gyoza set. I found the chashu bits to be slightly drier than I would have liked them to be. The beer and gyoza were very nice. I found the gyozas to be lightly crisped, with a nice filling.
The only negative I would highlight would be the wait time. It took half an hour, from when I ordered, for my food to be served. This did not bother me, though it may be worth noting for some people. There is also limited seating so large groups should be aware of this as well. The staff was friendly, so the experience as a whole was enjoyable and comfortable.
Over all, I cannot recommend Tonkotsu Ramen Tsukiya enough. The prices are beyond reasonable ($13.80 CAD for a bowl of ramen, $8.90 CAD for the beer and gyoza), so I believe that Tsukiya is worth checking out even if cost is a concern. Even while maintaining such low prices, I do not think that any ramen restaurant in the lower main land comes close to competing with Tsukiya's...
Read moreWhen my girlfriend and I walked in here I had the overwhelming red flag of "oh no this place is empty during dinner time it must suck". To be honest, we only came here because the other sit down to eat type places in the area were full or closed (what the heck Vancouver, why does everything close at 5PM???). I noticed they only had a handful of reviews so I thought I'd chime in from a Torontonian perspective.
The restaurant itself is quite small, with one "large" table and 3 smaller ones. The aesthetic is rustic, guests sit on stools (which I kind of enjoyed actually!) and there were some posters of old anime shows on the walls.
The ramen bowl itself was great. I ordered the staff recommended Tonkotsu Ramen Shoyu with a side of the Gyoza dumplings and it was fantastic. Broth flavor was nice and rich, and noodles were hearty and fresh tasting. Gyoza were standard fare but filling and no complaints. Pricing was reasonable for what I was given and it all went down really well after a long day of adventuring around Stanley Park.
The staff were great! There was one man serving us and a woman working in the kitchen, both greeted upon entry and said goodbye to us as we left out the door, quite the welcoming experience. I have recommended this place to friends and coworkers that make the trek out West. Will definitely be back myself if ever in the city again.
(don't mind the review below me, she seems to only have negative opinions on everything, take a leap of faith and try something new all the time, not just this...

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of enjoying the Mega Chasu Ramen at Tonkotsu Ramen Tsukya, which was part of their special deal celebrating their 2-year anniversary. As devoted ramen enthusiasts, we were thrilled to take advantage of this offer, and Tsukya did not disappoint.
The Mega Chasu Ramen quickly became our favorite. The broth was rich and flavorful, perfectly balanced. The noodles were cooked to perfection super satisfying. The toppings were abundant and fresh, with tender slices of aburi pork, a perfectly half soft-boiled egg.
Beyond the exceptional food, Tsukya Ramen's staff stood out for their friendliness and attentiveness. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed and well-cared for. The service was prompt, and the staff's knowledge about the menu helped us make the most of our dining experience.
The ambience at Tsukya Ramen is another highlight. The restaurant's cozy and Akira decor along with miniature anime characters creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. It's an ideal spot for a casual date night or a relaxed meal with friends and family.
Overall, our experience was nothing short of outstanding. We left feeling satisfied and eager to return. If you're a ramen lover, this is a must-visit spot, especially with their anniversary celebrations adding an extra touch of festivity. Highly...
