Ikon isn't bad, but it's missing a lot of the extras you'd get at the same price point at a location like Kin Sushi.
The food is perfectly fine. Rolls were standard - I expected the yam roll to be warm when I got it, but it felt like it had been left out for a little bit. Sashimi was clean! The Onigiri is just pre-packaged Onigiri that has been bought and resold from a regular retailer, but it's around $3-4 per so it makes sense you wouldn't get anything freshly made at that price.
Atmosphere is pretty modern and open, more spacious than you often see for sushi places.
The service isn't there. No water, no communication, no ginger to go with the rolls. That last one was weird to me; I've never had that happen before.
Ikon feels like a place designed for takeout that happens to have a dine-in option, but that dine-in option isn't really functional. The food is OK, but all the other negatives cumulatively detract from the overall experience.
I'm always looking for good sushi spots and was excited to try something new, but I'm going to be honest, I was disappointed with Ikon. Maybe I came on an off-day, but this might be the very first sushi place I've visited in my life where I was genuinely disappointed by what I got. The current score is 4.7 on Google Reviews at my time of writing, so maybe I set my expectations too high.
If you happen to be nearby and need some sushi immediately on a time-crunch, I think Ikon might be fine for takeout. If you're looking for dine-in or a good experience, I'd recommend...

IKON Sushi never fails to impress! Every visit has been a delightful culinary experience, and this fifth visit was no exception. The freshness and flavour of the sushi are consistently top-notch. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
If you're on the hunt for an affordable omakase box, IKON Sushi is the place to be. The fish is incredibly fresh, offering the perfect bite every time. One of the standout features is how the sushi boxes are elegantly wrapped in cloth, mimicking traditional Japanese packaging, which adds an authentic and charming touch to the experience.
I recently visited with my partner to celebrate our anniversary, and the evening exceeded our expectations. The staff's prompt and attentive service was remarkable. They ensured that we had everything we needed and were incredibly friendly and professional throughout our meal.
What sets IKON Sushi apart is the meticulous attention to detail. From the beautifully presented dishes to the warm and inviting atmosphere, every aspect contributes to an unforgettable dining experience. The quality and care put into each piece of sushi are evident, making it a true gem.

Read moreAn IKON has arrived in town! Yep, it's yet another sushi spot in the growing Vaughan food scene. Premium presentation is their game, to prove not all sushi are the same. This is their second location following the Markham restaurant in Yelp's Top 100 list.
So when a hotspot decides to open near us, then there's good reason to visit. We called IKON ahead to order a selection of their popular items: Chirashi Don (D3) along with their House & Philly Rolls (P1 & 2). The latter was labelled as a "PA Roll" here. An upsize from Philly to Pennsylvania, like lox with more cream cheese! Our takeout order was packed in cloth fabric for a more traditional touch.
Chirashi Don was a well-presented box of cubed sashimi, tamago, okra. Assorted salmon, tuna, octopus & snapper were firm & fresh but faintly distinguishable together. Salmon roes popped to provide little ocean bursts. Brown akazu sushi rice was a highlight of the Chirashi Don and Philly Roll; each grain tasted rich & smooth. Purple rice wrapped around the House Roll tempura & avocado.
This new IKON location is situated beside The Alley in a less frequented plaza by Vaughan Mills. The sleek red interior is spaciously setup for takeout. The centre wall is focused on tuna cuts. With that focus on fish, we devoured our raw sushi meal with...
