We came here in a large group of 11 people for a birthday event. Reservation booked for 7:30, told at the time of booking that we would need to be out by 9:30, no problem.
Upon arriving, we were told that we could not move to other seats at the table, as it would confuse the billing process. Waitress came back several times to abrasively attempt enforce this. Evidently, despite being a “Social House” and having the word “Socialize” plastered everywhere, it is forbidden to socialize with anyone seated at the other end of the table.
In spite of having a group large enough to take up 3 large tables, we were told that we could not push them together, based on the reasoning that the group members in the booth “would not be able to get out to use the washroom” – I’d like to believe that a group of adults is more than capable of being responsible for their own washroom access.
Though she was able to rush back to address any chair faux pas, when it came to actually serving us, we were left neglected. Food did not arrive until 8:30, halfway into our allotted time. At 9:20, we were told that we needed to leave immediately. Staff was rude and outright lied about what I had been told on the phone upon booking the reservation.
For the amount of money spent by our group for mediocre and overpriced food, we were spoken to rudely and condescendingly, and treated as an inconvenience to their day. Future social events will be taken to one of the many available restaurants where staff can conduct themselves in a...
Read moreI recently got a Bluetooth speaker from someone giving it away because they were moving out of province. They gave it to me! They also gave me several $50 gift cards for Brown's. I had never been before. I guess they just re-opened from the viral lockdown, but I just got takeout. Unskilled employees didn't seem to know how to deal with the card or take my order properly, until a manager took over. Glad it was a free gift card! I don't think I would pay that much for what I got. So far, I've has a smokehouse burger, and a french dip. Burger was a little soggy, fries were good, but gravy was meh. Beef dip was chewy and not that meaty, the dip tasted very artificial, and the onion rings were kinda bready and dry... I still have a couple more cards to use up, so maybe they will get better. It was definitely better than eating at Our Place Society, where most of my food comes from being broke on disability, but I am glad I am not paying for this, because for the prices they charge, I wouldn't pay for that.... Good for free, but I dunno about spending all your dough here all the time. Sorry, guys. Not that impressed.... Not very upset, but not that thrilled, either... Good...
Read moreThe restaurant we visited is usually quite busy, creating a lively atmosphere. We stopped in for drinks and some bites and ordered the Maple Bacon Poutine and Snackin’ Nachos to go along with our drinks. The staff were super friendly, checking in with us frequently to ensure everything was good. The beer selection was a bit limited, which was a bit disappointing, but the drinks we had were decent, though not excellent.
The nachos were good, but nothing special. On the other hand, the poutine was absolutely delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors. The portion sizes were generous, which we appreciated. The vibe in the restaurant was nice, and everything felt clean, including the toilets.
While the drinks were alright and the snacks were tasty overall, the limited beer options left us wanting more variety. However, for a casual night out with friends and some tasty bites, this spot is a solid choice. If you’re a fan of poutine, you’ll especially enjoy it here. For more extensive drink options or top-tier nachos, you might want to try elsewhere, but overall, we had...
