The interior is basic but clean. The prices are quite high for basic breakfast fair. I ordered two pieces of French toast with ham, and they brought me one piece of French toast with ham, explaining that when I order ham with it, I only get one piece of French toast, I asked if I could order a second piece of French toast separately and was told that would be approximately five dollars so I said sure bring me the second piece of French toast. My partner’s eggs were not cooked correctly. They were runny instead of well done. we continued to be flexible and roll with the punches. The waiter did say sorry, but didn’t offer us anything beyond that when inquiring about nondairy creamer for the coffee we were told no we just have milk products but after further investigation, we learned they do have soy milk, which is an absolutely suitable nondairy creamer. Thank you for having soy milk. I was offered a refill on my coffee, which I gladly accepted, but my partner intervened, realizing that I was not getting decaf coffee the second time when we ordered our food The waiter attempted to upsell us. Would we like to pay $.95 more for real maple syrup or just have the thick stuff. It’s $17 for two pieces of French toast and 3 half slices of ham I would’ve expected real maple syrup, but that’s not what Cora is offering despite the mixup on the coffee, the mixup on the creamer the mixup on the French toast, and the mixup on the eggs when the bill came it was full price the terminal presented to me contains a screen full of tip options starting at 15%, 20% 25%. I was forced to select other in order to provide a tip that more reasonably matched the service. and before the reader complains that I’m some sort of cheapskate $45 for French toast, ham, and another breakfast with coffee is almost double what we would pay back home. And it’s not my job to provide a working wage for the people in this restaurant it’s the employers job if Cora is not providing a working wage, but instead is relying on high tipping percentages Cora should think twice about how they run their business. I’ll leave you with a photo of what $17 worth of...
Read moreWent to Cora for the first time in 10 years, and I can confidently say---it’s changed, and not for the better. I was there with family friends for breakfast before the Victoria Day parade. Our friends arrived around 7am, we got there just after 7:30, and we stayed until 9am. The food was good, and our waitress was kind, but the service was slow. I had to wait over 10 minutes just to get some takeout boxes. Still, we paid over $150 for four people, then went to sit right outside Cora to watch the parade. Around 11, my daughter and our friends daughters (ages 14, 12, and 10) needed to use the bathroom. Since we had just eaten there, they went in and politely asked if they could use the washroom. Instead, they were rudely told it was for “customers only” by a man who clearly wasn’t a waiter—more like a supervisor, but not the owner. Even after they explained we had just been there, he told them to leave. For simply asking to use the bathroom! They came back upset, so I went in. (Note: I am partially sighted.) I told the man that we had spent over $150 that morning and that my daughters should be allowed to use the bathroom. He demanded to see a receipt, accused me of lying, and then had the nerve to call me racist for raising my voice. I pointed to my CNIB cane, and he looked at it and said, “You want to hit me with it?” Absolutely uncalled for. At that point, I think the owner came out and started yelling too. Eventually they let the girls use the bathroom—but only after all that completely unnecessary drama. I stood off to the side by the entrance to wait for them, not blocking anyone, and they told me to leave. I didn’t. I waited for my girls and then we left. I’m disgusted. They were happy to take our money but treated us like garbage. Not only was the experience rude and unacceptable, but the place isn’t even accessible—there are stairs, and anyone with mobility issues or in a wheelchair would not be able to get in. Even i had...
Read moreFood was great as always. The reason why I took out one star is because of the server. we had such a terrible experience with the server. I have never met such a rude server ever.
I would describe her as a short tiny young asian looking lady. Let me make it clear first. There’s nothing wrong with asian, and I myself am an asian. Unfortunately I didn’t get her name, and there’s not much information I can describe her except how she looks like. It was Good friday morning. I’m saying this to help the restaurant would be able to find out who she is so that they can educate her what attitude she needs to develop as a server. And that’ll help her to make a good tip. Tip is for a good service, not for a terrible experience.
The asian looking young lady served us on that morning, and from the beginning it was not so much pleasant. She looked very busy, which is understandable, but it doesn’t necessarily mean she’s allowed to be rude and leave the table before we finish our order.. nothing was alright.. the way she looked at us, the way she answered us.. As we all know body language—gestures, facial expressions, and other nonverbal signs may express more than the real language. Her all sorts of body language was not pleasant at all. We couldn’t feel any respect from her. Anyway, we didn’t pay the tip of course. And guess what..! She threw the receipt and the pen on the table.. Wow.. What a shocking moment.. That was exactly why we didn’t pay the tip for her.. she didn’t even deserve a penny. Sorry for the kitchen staffs if they share some portion of the tip.
I hope I don’t see her there next time. I have never written a review to anywhere, but she made me leave a long one for my very first time.
I still love☀️ Cora and will go back to the restaurant.. Food is...
