AGRESSION AT Sticky Wicket Pub And Restaurant Victoria BC.
I have to report an aggression last night from Sticky Wicket, I file a report with the police to the staff for aggression at the place. I was trying to pay my drinks (prove of that I paid for my taxi after the incident) I just needed time to figured out how to pay with my smartwatch, same happened at the entrance I couldn’t pay… I’m not savvy but the staff saw it as “too drunk to pay”, so the bartender called security, and a Filipino guard without asking me nothing just grabbed me and took me out. On the way out he hurt me… I have multiple bruises in the left arm, my hand it’s swollen, on the side of my left breast is in pain as well as my left feet.
There was no need of doing that, the use of this kind of force, the use of violence was completely unnecessary I was not aggressive.
I understand how difficult it’s to work in a place like this, I can actually understand the reasoning of they taking me out. What I don’t accept is the unnecessary violence. That’s why I’m coming here, ashamed, hurt, and in one of my most humble moments.
They just showed what can be done if you are in a vulnerable position, and as a woman and an immigrant I was expecting a better behaviour with my humanity. This shows that having a bit of power and presumed another person in a vulnerable position will make you believe you are entitled to hurt people like they did physically to my body.
when I was outside they send over multiple security guys, to refused my way in. At that point I was just looking for my purse so I could go home, some of the guys from the staff come to me and said they found my friends and there was no fanny bag. When that happened I left I grabbed a cab and paid for it. That was all the explanation I needed. Not the aggression.
And yes, I had drinks, but I was perfectly conscious of what was happening. And watching all of them, disrespecting me, and aggressioning me… was very scary, at the point I feared for something worse, and believe me… completely possible after noticing how they all behaved in that situation. I wonder what more they could do with anyone in a worse situation than mine? My thinking… they will totally take advantage of it, and do “who knows what” to a person in a vulnerable position. I believe what could be done at sticky wicket by their staff, it’s extremely dangerous and they need to be exposed.
The fact that I was having drinks, does not permit the sticky wicket staff to do this to my body. I shouldn’t be treated with violence because you didn’t want to deal with me. But because I was in vulnerable position they thought they could hurt me.
Probably nothing much will happen about this… mostly because the establishment under the statement “that I was drunk” they are permitted to use force. However in any part of that logic is implied the use of VIOLENCE, as my body can prove it was in this case.
Every day, losing more respect, of certain humans… people passing by at the entrance, completely unbothered, watching the staff commit violence in front of their eyes, (shocking). To the girl at the entrance, watching her unbothered, seeing them being like that with me, gave me the creeps.
As an immigrant I genuinely (I see now, naively) was expecting more of you.
And to the Filipino guy who actually commit the act. A women bring you to this world, you should be told the reasoning of your existence and why you should be respectful with everyone more with women, and more with people in vulnerable positions. But that’s a conversation you are clearly not prepared to have, just telling you… there’s a special place in this life or in the other for people like you. I pray...
Read moreThe place is beautiful, our hostess and waitress were both very friendly, and the food was amazing! My wife and I both had the fish and chips and were very impressed!
The reason I'm giving a 2 star review was for a seriously poorly handled situation we witnessed. There was a gentleman sitting two seats down from us that was noticeably intoxicated. He was quiet, kept to himself, and enjoyed his lunch. I do not know the conversation that took place between him in the waitress, but there was an issue regarding paying for the meal. The man was emptying the contents of his wallet (many cards and papers) and was trying to locate a debit card when a female manager and security guard approached him. The manager (chin length ish brown hair) did everything but deescalate the situation. She was very very loud, immediately accused him of refusing to pay. He said he was trying to locate his card, he was impaired so was a little slow, and asked her to keep it down as not to cause a scene. She continued to yell, grabbing the attention of the entire restaurant and bar area. She screamed at someone to get her a to go box and then turned to him yelling very loudly, "Well you are getting what you wanted, isn't that right? A free meal?!" She proceeded to pack up the remainder of his food, tossing empty plates across the table making very loud banging noises with each dish. She slammed the box down in front of him repeating again very loudly "You got what you wanted! A free meal! Now get out of here and I never want to see you again!!"
The man asked several times for her to take it down a notch, he didn't want to cause a scene, she never obliged - just escalated each time he asked. The security guard then escorted the man out of the restaurant.
My wife and I discussed paying for the man's lunch before the manager started slamming dishes. He was genuinely trying to locate payment but the manager was having none of it. After the way he was treated we felt the place didn't deserve his bill to be paid. We paid our bill and promptly left.
I hope the incident is looked into and the manager is investigated. We will never return.

I've been a customer of this place for 5+ years. Most of the staff know me by face. Here's what happened on one of the Friday nights of October 2018:
(I'm an international graduate student, not a local, and a fairly good pool player)
Had a beer at home, went to Sticky for a couple more and shoot some pool.
Got in, put a toonie in the socket of the pool table and pushed the lever to have the balls released. One ball remained stuck inside.
informed the staff about the situation (it's a common one), waited for their action. My opponent went outside for a smoke. His friend stayed.
several minutes later, no one showed up. So I started playing with the released balls, thinking that they're going to unlock all of them anyways.
several more minutes, no one's helping me. I wave to one of the staff. She acknowledges. I point to the pool table with a question mark on my face.
a few minutes later, a bouncer comes in and tells me that the staff think I'm trying to take advantage of them! I explain the situation. He tells me he doesn't believe me! I tell him it's a misunderstanding, but not a big deal. I'll go and get more change.
I approach the bar. The bouncer is whispering with my opponent. I feel they know each other.
I ask the bartender to break my bill. He nods. I feel a tap on my shoulder. It's the bouncer! He tells me that the "manager" has decided that my "behaviour" is intolerable and I should leave! I ask about the manager: "Can I talk to him?". He says the manager's "not available"!
I tell him this isn't right and leave, not being able to help but thinking this has something to do with my skill level, the opponent and his relationship with the establishment, as well as a stupid bigotry targeted towards me.
I feel extremely wronged and would never return...
