I made reservations for 4, online for a birthday celebration tonight which put in the comments of our reservation. This restaurant is usually pretty good and is considered a bit more upscale. When we arrived at the front counter, the friendly staff greeted us and before taking us to our seat informed us another reservation was coming to our table in 2 hours and did we think we could be done by then. I thought this was quite rude as this is a fairly nice restaurant and one does not expect a time crunch altho the person seating us told us that if we thought we may take longer than the allotted 2 hours, we could tell our server and they would make some adjustments. Our server, Nick was awesome and very attentive. However, It felt like he was being pressured to rush us thru. We ordered a cocktail and an appetizer which came promptly. Before our appy was even on the table we felt rushed in having to order our main entres. Once ordered, we also ordered a bottle of wine. Our main course came uber quickly but our wine did not. We each slowed down eating our dinners because we were feeling the rush but were afraid we'd finish our dinner before our bottle of wine was brought to the table. Once the red wine ($60/bottle) arrived, the wine glasses put on our table were not proper red wine glasses, they resembled something that would have been served for a dessert wine. Our server apologized for the glasses but said they "couldn't find proper wine glasses." We were barely finished our dinner and wine when we were asked if we would like dessert. We had had our cocktails, appetizer, main dish and wine all in less than an hour. There was about another hour before the next reservation. I mentioned to our server that it seemed we were being rushed thru. He apologized and said that was not their intent. We, in no way feel our server was responsible for the rushed vibe we felt. We felt there was pressure on him from someone in a higher position to get us in and get us out before the next reservation. However, we noted there were several empty tables nearby. The point here is that when you are spending $200+ for a nice dinner out to celebrate a special occasion, it is very disappointing to feel rushed and concerned about the time. If we wanted to just grab a diiner, we would have gone to a fast food restaurant. I don't normally post reviews but I feel the food service industry is struggling during these tough times, which is evident by the inflated prices and much smaller portions. However, the lack of customer service where the consumer is made to feel rushed is inexcusable. Again, this review is no reflection on our server as he was excellent, rather the management needs to review their practices if they want repeat customers and word of mouth referrals, and to keep a...
Read moreOverall I would give Glo a resounding "mid" like many Victoria restaurants - Glo seems to get by on it's location and decent drinks, likely not the food. Spinach Dip was served with the same nachos I get from Costco.
I made the mistake of ordering a steak (decided to treat myself with a beef tenderloin), which I ordered medium rare. Came out medium well to well done. Honestly, on it's own not a huge deal in a busy cookie cutter restaurant, I get people make mistakes. If it was a truly nice restaurant I would not have expected that.
Was happy to send it back and get it redone, unfortunately the server took 20 minutes to check on our table, so by the time she came back my entire family and friends had finished their meal.
I let her know it was cooked wrong and I was dismissively asked, "well do you want it redone or want another one?" and I said yes. After my family had packed all their to go boxes up, Lo and behold medium well again, nowhere close to medium rare. So I had half a chewy steak while my family watched me eat, which i wouldn't put at the top of any list of enjoyable dining experiences.
After the whole ordeal I was offered 50% off the steak, which quite frankly was ridiculous and made me feel like I was in the wrong for going into a restaurant and ordering a steak how I prefer it to be cooked.
After going and making my case to the manager (which I should not have had to do) she eventually gave me 50% off the steak and promo'd 2 margaritas*, all told I paid 1 dollar for 2 steaks that were probably worth about that.
*Margaritas were promod because server forgot my girlfriends drink order, which we reminded her 30 minutes later. When my girlfriend was about halfway done her margarita the server picked it up off the table.
Overall like I said, mid dining experience, everyone else seemed to be fine though at the table and location was great but that's gonna be a resounding 3 stars for me. Much better restaurants available in Victoria and after reading a recent Reddit thread about the owners' actions I likely won't be visiting any of their...

Location can’t be beat, it’s just perfect. It’s beautiful all around, the views are to die for.
Decor and atmosphere is very nice, cozy, unique.
Food is good. Not out of this world good, but good.
What I have issues with is how this place is run. It spoils al those good things that they have going for them with how they handle it, I have been here three times now, and noticed the same thing over and over, and now that it’s busy - it’s more apparent.
Can’t book a patio table, only inside. Okay, booked. Showed up a bit early to see that maybe we could get a patio table. When we arrived there were 4 tables at the patio, empty, yet the girl at the front said it’s a 45 minute wait. The entire 45 minutes we were outside waiting, those tables didn’t fill up. The entire time. 4 groups of people could have had dinner and left. 20’minutes into it I went in and asked and the girls said - oh well we have people before you. I said - where are they. She said - we texted them. Okay… so in 45 minutes those people didn’t show up? This system does not work. If people are not here, give their table away, or better yet - let people reserve patio tables, and there will be none of this. Other restaurants manage this somehow. It is very frustrating to stand there and see that for 45 minutes you have to wait while tables are open. Finally we got seated inside because we couldn’t wait anymore. Ordered drinks, they took a while to be made, then saw them sit at the bar for good 10 minutes before anyone brought them to us. Then it took 55!!! Minutes to get 2 appetizers, on a Thursday. I mean. It’s just not worth it. No one apologized, no one cared. Oh and our table was across from the bar, and there was this garbage can by the till, in our direct view, which was spilling over with garbage, it was so unsightly. And all the staff just continued to step over the garbage or even add to it, no one cared to bend over and clean it up. Just not a good feeling today, which is too bad because this place can really be...
