Sol Food Cafe Deli Catering — Restaurant in Victoria

I've been here in the past a few times but the customer service seems to be hit or miss along with the value. Last week my burger was great, but today was not so good. Below is a picture of my "Special" beef dip for $15. Fries were extra for $4 which I didn't read because it was located in the top corner of the notice board in smaller writing. I believe their other meals (from the grill) come with fries so you just assume it would, as did my coworker. Anyways, my plate comes and the beget bread is super thin and small. The beef dip has no taste and I'm thinking I ordered from the kids menu. My coworkers are amused so I ask the dish person if this came with fries, he said he would go check and never came back. At this point they were not very busy. I had to ask him again and he said no. As I took a photo of my meal, the person operating the cash register noticed me, that prompted her to ask if everything was ok. I said, for $16 I thought this would have came with fries. She asked if I'd like some, so I accepted her offer which I was thankful for. When my coworker's meal came out, she order the same thing. It appears I received the end peices of the baguette where she received the middle pieces, her portion was twice the size with twice the amount of beef and came with large pickle. Well what a lovely-find- My sista and I were walking baby-boo aka baby bear, booboo bear...the cat in a buggy along the Gorge walkway, we were looking out for "cafe" as we the French would say- when we spotted suns, yellow suns we followed and led us into the Sol fine foods, a marvelous little quaint shop! We were greeted with smiles and took it upon ourselves to look everywhere, as there was so much to see! The food portions, large and looking divinely delicious! The prices were quite decent and we settled for a cafe and a macha- There was brown sugar, cream, milk mmmmm what a treat! We made inquiries about their fries, which we were told were made from scratch, the foods in the shop are mostly sourced locally, a feature which is definitely much appreciated. I have a feeling they will be around for a while....next time, a wrap, fries,another cafe and a picnic somewhere around the...

New 2024 review: Tried them again, ya know, sometimes 1 bad experience should not be the end of it and you gotta give ppl a chance to redeem themselves but my review stands.

Was yet again disappointed. The food still didn't taste good, I was reminded of how expensive it is to have lunch there, $28 for lunch is preposterous!!!

Turns out the soup was ridiculously bland. Guys, I don't know what's going on but I used to like this place and I WANT to like you. Your staff is very friendly but that kind of prices, I may as well go to Glo across the street.

It's a shame because I used to like you guys. A LOT.

I'd like to speculate that they charge this much because of the lack of options around here. Other places make much better tasting food for half the price.
