It's the coolest Good Earth Cafe I've ever been to. Get a window seat facing North and you’ll have a great view of the parliament buildings. It's a wonderful place to sit, have a coffee, and watch the world go by.
I had a coffee and a Chocolate Chipper cookie. Both were very good. I don't drink coffee that often but I’ve always liked the mild flavor of their medium roast drip coffee. I’ve frequented several Good Earth Cafes in Calgary Alberta and this one in Victoria has the same great service, ambiance, and food. I'm impressed with the consistency.
I'm also impressed with the architecture. It's next level cool. The cafe looks like it's built into a hill. But it's actually an engineered hill. Two sides of the building are covered with dirt, or in other words…earth. Which means it ttruly lives up to the name “Good Earth Cafe.”
There is a waterfall feature on one side of the cafe, lots of grass and greenery on the other two sides, plenty of seating on the outdoor patio, and a sod roof as well. The sod roof also has an observation deck where you can climb up to get a Bird's Eye view of the area. Great place for a photo shoot.
This area of Victoria is the heart of the city and is quite stunning from a visual point of view because it has a wonderful blend of historic and modern architecture. And the cafe fits in perfectly with its ground breaking design. Definitely worth checking out, if you’re ever...
Read moreThis is a bit harder of a review to give. Perhaps because I'm feeling a bit under the weather and feeling grumpy... The coffee is good here and I love the carrot cake so today I went in looking forward to both bit in particular was excited about the carrot cake. There were two pieces left, one was a bit larger than the other. I was so excited, thinking that of course, if I order the carrot cake, I'll get the larger piece. After all, what server would give you the smaller piece of you've already seen them both. We'll, as you can guess, the server gave me the small piece. Not only that, but he actually had to reach over the big one to get to the small one. Ouch!! Ok, maybe I'm just being greedy here, and maybe I didn't need to write a review like this. But hey, as a reviewer, I try to give my honest opinion on what I actually felt about the experience and this time... I...
Read moreThis café’s setting and architecture is the saint of locations. The design is curiously perplexing but very liberal and proud. It rivals any building in the area and dominates fifty years of ambivalent designs. There’s a huge space outside with scattered tables—like nothing I’ve seen in the world. The space inside and out breathes like dense European cities could never ever offer. This is simply one of the free-est coffee experiences anyone can have.
It’s an astounding jaw-dropping experience to see our parliament building standing opposite like the queen in a chess game, thwarted by cherry blossoms and capped in green copper. I’ve lived in many 3rd world countries and the visual real estate expanses afforded to someone visiting the Good Earth Coffeehouse is worth a mental $10,000 a cup. Food was great, service was solid…...
