I absolutely am a sucker for a sweet Treat and enjoy Victorias beautiful inner harbour. I used to always make a point to visit Marble Slab and get a birthday cake milkshake with smarties even though it was pricey. However there services have changed and so has there product. A couple years back i received a work of art made by soulful staff who were patient and friendly despite the amount of time it took for me to choose my mixins. In recent years i have not received the same value of product or service. They are out of a lot of things they advertise like lids for milkshakes. The last time i went in the staff were inconsistant, cold and evasive. My first 5 minutes there were two guys in uniform outside smoking. While they threw the N word around and cussed at their friends. When they finally served me they made no eye contact to me and talked to eachother. I was hurt by their attitudes and lack-of-service. On top of that they forgot to put oreo in my shake and didnt have a lid for me. While they were having trouble ringing me through i asked if they had a lid or whip cream or could at least give me a discount and was shrugged off and told that Macdonalds across the street that would probably have one. I asked if there was a manager and got an inconsistant answer. I would not go there again but would reccomend people take some time to enjoy victorias inner harbour and grab a tub of ice...
Read moreWent here last summer when I was craving something sweet after dinner and I still think about this today. The first lady that served me did not have the best customer service. When I asked what topping they have in response to her question of what toppings do I want, she just pointed her chin towards the general direction of where the topping was. To add, when it was my turn to pay with a different lady at the till, apparently the first lady that scooped the ice cream, thought that I (Asian) was with the party in front of me (a caucasian mother and a son) and she had mistakenly charged them extra for my order as well. It is okay to assume things, but it is clear that the pair were interacting and making conversation as compared to me who clearly stood a distance in my line, minding my business. Props to her for chasing them down the street to give them a refund, but overall it was chaotic and could have been prevented with simply greeting customers as you move up the line. I did read reviews of different ice cream shops in the area beforehand as I am not from the area but I really wished I have trusted the bad reviews on this shop in particular and walked the extra distance to another as customer service really does make or break...
Read moreI have been to Marble Slab locations in Alberta, specifically Edmonton and never had to deal with such a filthy establishment. It is a good thing I am tall so I could reach the top of the door to open it because the entire door was filthy and disgusting. The inside of the restaurant was just as dirty. The two workers were too busy paying attention to a young man who was not there as a customer but rather to take something one of the girls was passing to him, we were not sure what it was but it was not a bathroom key because we asked and we were told there are no washrooms. The padlocked freezer door was pretty telling as the establishment looked as though the addicts and drug dealers outside are a nuisance to them. Then we paid too much money for too little ice cream, and it could not have been much worse. They could not even spell Bubblegum properly on the bubble gum ice cream my daughter ordered. They wouldn't even let my daughter purchase some bubblegum as a topping for the ice cream as it didn't have any in it. Needless to say we will not be back...until we...
