Only a handful of times have a eaten food that has blown me away to the level that Momi Noodle did. I ordered the Guilin Marinade Noodle and Taiwanese popcorn chicken, and I completely cleaned my plate, leaving myself a little too full but more satisfied than I have felt in years. I was a little disappointed that the popcorn chicken didn’t come with crispy basil leaves, but as Momi isn’t a Taiwanese restaurant, I’ll give it a slide, it was very crispy and delicious nonetheless. The marinated noodle was the star of the show though. The brisket was crispy and tender, as was the pork belly crunchy and juicy. The noodles were perfectly al dente and when they mean marinated they truly mean it and they had a depth of flavour that was divine. The add-ons took everything to a different level though, particularly the fermented green beans! Don’t be fooled by the restaurant’s enticing food photos—the true issue lies in its underwhelming flavors and utter lack of authenticity! The most absurd offender was the roasted pork, which had been fried to a jaw-breaking hardness. Even the pork knuckle soup base, though featuring decent meat, was bland and utterly devoid of depth. To put it simply: the higher my expectations, the deeper the disappointment!

All dishes were very greasy, and there was remarkably little flavour to any of them. Very lazy execution, and I couldn’t get through any of the dishes with my partner. (Giving two stars because their delivery came fairly quickly. However I would have much rather waited for good food instead.)
I’m really not one to make poor reviews online, but I see the high overall rating of this restaurant on google and I can’t understand why. Maybe due to a lack of many of these restaurants on the island & it’s central downtown location?
There are certainly better takeout options, including Ox King, which has phenomenal Dan Dan noodles in particular. I highly recommend visiting...
