My friends and I visit the drake often, and have done so for years. Oddly I have few pictures as these are usually just wandering by opportunities. One of the best things about this local establishment is the ever changing, but wide ranging craft beer selection. They bring in beer from the western states, as far as Stone Brewery, and even more from Washington and Oregon, as well as Vancouver beers or BC beers not easily found locally. Interesting and highly intoxicating flights can always be found. One of the bad things is that many of these offerings are one time / single or limited keg opportunities. So if you find something you absolutely love, drink ALL of it while you can, it may be gone next week. Food offering vary and change occasionally. They used to have an excellent Chicken KimChi sandwich that was just perfectly balanced, but it has left the menu. There is an outside patio area overlooking bastion square which is where we tend to try and sit during the warmer and drier season. Parking is problematic with this being the downtown core, but then one probably shouldn't drive and imbibe. .

From the moment you step inside the Drake, you’re swept into a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. This bustling eatery, nestled in the heart of Victoria, offers a delightful mix of eclectic charm and modern flair, making it a must-visit for both locals and travelers alike. The Drake truly shines with its impressive selection of craft beers, showcasing local BC breweries at their finest. Each beer is expertly curated, offering something for every palate, from hoppy IPAs to smooth stouts. The knowledgeable staff are always on hand to offer recommendations and share their passion for the brews, enhancing the tasting experience. This place is more than just a beer lover’s paradise. The menu is a treasure trove of delicious, well-executed dishes that complement their drinks perfectly. The share plates are particularly noteworthy—perfect for a casual night out with friends⬤

Probably the biggest mistake in my life - giving this place a try on a sunny day based on web reviews. Over priced sandwich $14 and Pinot Noir 8oz $19. Really limited unappetizing menu; very disappointing. The sandwich was worth $9; the glass of wine $8 --- at happy hour! I would not recommend The Drake; pretty sad sort of place not worthy of your dollars. My only sad review. I don't recommend The Drake based on my initial visit. Save your money - there are tons of great places to eat in Victoria; The Drake is not one. Great location, probably the reason for the high prices. Rent and lease prices are high, probably; don't pass them on by selling sad food at inflated prices. My worst dining experience in Victoria since 2013. Highly NOT recommended. One Ugh from me. Location is why it exists, I guess.

This was one of my favorite spots in Victoria. We were their boxing day for beers and pretzel in the evening. Then we were met by three MICE. Not one, but three that all seemed a little to comfortable scampering all through out the restaurant. We mentioned to the female bartender that we hope this is not a reflection of the cleanliness of the kitchen, but she said that they come in the front door every night and seemed pretty OK with it. We get and understand old buildings, but this is disappointing that a food and beverage establishment is not doing anything to address the problem. What happens after they close for the night? How clean and sanitary is the place?

I LOVE the atmosphere here.. I'm pretty sure this is going to be my go to spot for any dates or any such outings in the future. It's perfectly setup for having a great conversation. The music is subtle (but good),the staff are lovely, and the food is excellent. Plus the menu is mostly sourced from ingredients local to the island. One Cool thing about The Drake Eatery: If chess is your thing, then I'd recommend you hit this spot with your favorite set and play buddy. It's not like tournaments happen here or anything like that. I just saw a pair playing when I was there and it just seemed like they were having a really good time.

We really enjoyed our lunch at the Drake Eatery. I had the delicious quarter chicken and it was ample for me, and my hubby had the corned beef sandwich which he said was really good. I really loved the cold slaw salad and dip that came with my chicken and my hubby really enjoyed his home made potato chips, they even came warm!!! The cider was good and so was the wine @ $10 a glass very reasonable, considering it’s DT Victoria. The ambience was nice, good tunes and the we loved the Persian rugs, nice touch and made it homey. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We will be back! Thanks for great service, food and drink!!
