Wandering, looking for breakfast. As we walked toward what we thought we were going to have for breakfast, we passed the Sour Pickle. The smell of breakfast wafting from the restaurant grabbed my sniffer and led us to the front of the store to look at the menu. A Quick Look and we decided to give the pickle a go. Me and the boss decided on the Mexican omelet and a coffee. What a meal. Toast and crisp, delicious hash browns shared the plate with the main attraction, an enormous three egg omelet stuffed with peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon and onions topped with cheese and salsa sauce. The boss had me finish her omelet but by God I finished all mine too…. Thankfully we had a walk back to the hotel to work some of that big breakfast off. Prices are in line with every other place here in Victoria, however this is a local, husband and wife team that make awesome food and seem genuinely happy to be serving their brand of home cooking to the people. The location is very central - right at Johnson Bridge Store Street - close to the harbour, shopping, Chinatown.
I had the breakfast with scrambled eggs sausages and toast. Everything was made from scratch (just like home cooking!) fresh and delicious. Portions were generous. Just hit the spot. In addition the coffee is bottomless cup.
It’s a family run cafe and service was courteous and friendly. The decor is very whimsical and cheerful with special place for pickle decorations 😀. There is a small outdoor seating area for nicer weather days.

The Denver breakfast item is only on their special item menu posted outside the establishment, and I really enjoyed it! The sandwich is toasted to perfection and filled with so many healthy goodies. It came with a side of potatoe salad which was the best I have ever had... ever.
The Tortilla Omelet is a HUGE serving with lightly fried potato in the side. If you like garlic, then this is the breakfast item for you. My brother and dad enjoyed it.
