La Roux Patisserie — Restaurant in Victoria

I have ordered a cake 2 days before my boyfriend’s birthday and wanted to give him a surprise. I ordered a birthday cake on phone and informed them I would like two macarons on the top with some simple but nice, creative design for a mature gentalman around 30 years old, for his birthday celebration.

And this is what I received. I just can not understand why a really nice reviewed pastry shop can sell this birthday cake to their customer. Even they themselves probably feel it is not a nice presented cake. Even the macaron on the top was not clean, with some chocolate sauce.

Every customer should be respected and nice treated. If you don’t like it, why you think your customer should like it. No one called or confirmed with me if I am okay with the design even I preordered on Sunday for Tuesday’s pick up.

The taste of the cake is not bad, this is why I listened to others’ recommendation and choose this pastry shop for my boyfriend’s birthday cake. Their customer service was also nice, both in person or on phone. I, myself am a customer service professional and I appreciate their nice service. But I really can not accept that they sell this product to their customers.

This is a warning for everyone, please make sure you deliver all the message to this shop about what do you want for a birthday cake. Otherwise you might feel very disappointed when you receive what they make for you by their...

One of my vacation's best highlights is my morning coffee and fresh Croissants. I Googled and found this little upscale French Bakery. La Roux Patisserie. My wife and I arrived around 8:50 AM, ten minutes before they opened their doors. We noticed we would not be the first patrons, and a few other customers and one of the employees were outside waiting. The owner and chef opened the door for the employee and announced that they would be opening for business shortly. Anyways, after we got in, the same employee, with a very positive attitude and a big smile, served our coffee and Croissants. We got three Croissants and two coffees. The employee asked us to return to our table, and she would bring our order out. After a few minutes, she brought our order in an unbelievable, beautiful silver tray. The croissants were fresh, warm, and tasty, and the coffee was fresh, hot, dark, and perfect. We enjoyed everything from the patio sitting to our choice of coffee and pastries in La Roux, and most importantly, I recommend you go to this little upscale French Bakery, particularly if you are visiting Victoria. La Roux is simply delightful. The cakes, the pastries, the staff and owner are all a real treat! Great for a special occasion, celebration or just because. I cannot wait til Christmas to get another Bûche de Noël! Meantime, the chocolate hazelnut cake is quite literally the best chocolate cake I’ve ever had and will just have to do 😆 Their blueberry cheesecake is absolutely out of this world and I don’t even like cheesecake! The gingerbread macarons were stunning, delicious and remarkably perfect in their delicacy. Just the right amount of gingerbread. Everything is top notch. Highly recommend ❤️ Have to add an update as I picked up their Chocolate Mousse Cake for a good friend’s birthday and WOW! This cake is off the charts. Not too sweet or heavy & each of the 3 chocolate layers (plus ganache decor) is perfect all on its own. Great chilled but absolutely heavenly once room temperature. We shared this with the staff at our favourite restaurant around the corner and their feedback matched ours.
