A Mixed Bag: Exceptional Gaming but Subpar Service I recently visited this arcade, eager to indulge in some nostalgic gaming fun. As an avid gamer, I was excited to explore the various gaming stations and challenge myself with arcade titles. Unfortunately, my experience was marred by subpar service and average food. Gaming Experience: 5/5 The gaming experience was undoubtedly the highlight of my visit. The arcade boasted an impressive collection of classic and modern games, catering to diverse tastes and preferences. I spent hours navigating the colorful aisles, discovering hidden gems and revisiting old favorites. Service: 3/5 The service was average. While the staff was not overly friendly, they were not rude either. I experienced some delays in ordering and receiving my food, but the staff seemed to be trying their best. Hosts: 1.5/5 The hosts were a major letdown. Not only were they inattentive, but they also made me feel uncomfortable. As a first-timer, I expected a warm welcome and some guidance on navigating the arcade and reservation table. Ambiance: 4/5 Despite the service issues, the arcade's ambiance was generally pleasant. The colorful decor and lively atmosphere created a fun environment. Food and Beverages: 3/5 I ordered the poutine and tacos, which were decent but not impressive. The poutine lacked a rich, flavorful gravy, and the tacos were somewhat bland. However, the portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable. While this arcade offered an exceptional gaming experience, the subpar service, uncomfortable hosts, and average food options left a sour taste in my mouth. With some improvements in these areas, this arcade could truly become a top-notch destination for gamers and entertainment seekers alike. Recommendation For gamers seeking a unique and entertaining experience, this arcade is worth visiting – but be prepared for some service-related frustrations.

Overall its about a 3.5 but i dont want to short change this business. To start we got some food in their lounge area. I had their cesar salad which was sub par. It had almost zero dressing on it, now i respect not drenching it but seriously i had a signle bite with any flavour other than bacon bits or lettuce. Then we had a 4 cheese macaroni with bacon on it. There was pleanty of bacon for a 2 dollar upcharge which was nice. There was almost no cheesy flavour on the mac though. For something with 4 types of cheese you'd expect a little more. (See below / above for photos). Overall the service was poor, and even though im not a fan of a lot of small talk some would have been nice. Along with seeing the server 1 time other than drinks and food and cheque. It was so brief so i couldnt even ask for a refill on the drink. Overall the lounge was not a great time and the price was expensive for the result. On to the good though. The actual arcade was diverse and offers tons of different types of games. There were a few out of order that would have been enjoyable but overall the arcade was very fun and affordable.

The Rec Room is as okay; Not great. Long story short: It was expensive and the value for your money isn’t good at all. PROS: * It’s in West Edmonton Mall so it’s a large venue; * The games and video games are geared to a variety of ages; * there is a dedicated parking area for the red room. However with it being at WEM the lots are full anyways; * The staff are generally helpful; * There is a restaurant and bar inside the Rec Room so if you wanted to have a meal or a drink while you wait for kids you can do that including watching big screen tv’s. CONS: * It’s expensive. The value is just not there and also the value at each game or arcade game have timers and change values constantly; * Getting to the Rec Room can be difficult as it is kind of hidden in the second floor and it’s not connected to the bowling lanes; * After collecting all of your tickets you find out that there is a VERY limited selection of items to choose from and they are way over valued there as well; * if you or your children are sensitive to flashing lights etc. then this place may be too much for you including sensory overload.

They made the wings sound good until I touched it and 4/12 wings were cold at the end. Probably microwaved or reheated some wings and gave them to my party. Beside that the games are worth the experience. They're half off on Sundays and Tuesdays. Events on Wednesdays. If you want reasonable food prices go to the food court or restaurant. Personally think customer service needs to improve greatly.

After emailing I got no feedback. What my email said was points that made me very displeased with your services. I'll copy and paste what I wrote.

"I was told to reply to your email. I came to the recroom again this Sunday around 4-5:50 pm.

Here are some of the things I would like to point out.

Everyone don't have name tags. People who are at the entrance  counter will look at you then resume to their conversations. No one says a welcome.  I bought two of the best price tags for 63 dollars I got back change 20 dollar bill and a old paper ten dollar bill which I thought was very cool to have but just went about my day. But as I got home I see that it doesn't have the Silvir line and see that it's a counterfeit bill. I was playing the game timber man and the game froze and as I had three games left in the game the employee who helped me offered to get a free game and only 1 free game. I had a total of 2 games left and one game that got frozen mid way. Gave an aggression saying that I either get a free game or he'll have to give me a refund. Why am I getting attitude when i have a problem and he's giving me one free game and not my 6 credits. In total he gave me two free games because it was the best he can do to compensate. I do not know his name but can only describe what he looks like.

My friend who accumulated 50k points asked the game centre if there are anything else besides what is in right there. We got different responses everytime we ask. "We have different prizes in the back." "We switch them out when someone gets one of the prizes." " These are the only prizes we have I don't think you heard them right." All of these ARE not consistent.

Rec room food always takes too long to come out. It's very questionable if you're microwaving food in the back every time we order. How does the pizza always come out limp when it's a thin crust?!

There are some good things rec room does do. They host events, they give half off on games I believe Sunday to Wednesday.  ""

I returned today at 3:20 pm june 4th and the game that was frozen "timber man" got an increase in difficulty. Where if you pass the 50 mark everything gets increasingly hard. You CANNOT reach 300 to reach the birds. I am honestly displeased how you guys represent your costumer service

TL;DR Customer service bad, compensating for lost games i.e you put 4 games into the machine and the game is frozen you will get compensated for one game.

Not all. The resolution to fix any problems you have is with attitude and little to none action. If you come for fun you come to get ripped off instead.

Do not recommend, if you want a group activities I would recommend a...

I went to the Rec Room on a Sunday evening. It really wasn't busy, especially considering it was a weekend. I went with a small group. Two of us planned on sitting at the restuarant area to watch the game on Sunday evening. There were mainly empty tables a couple with "reserved" signs on them, so we sat at one of the many non reserved tables. After sitting for a while an older lady employee came up to the table and told us we couldn't sit there and we'd have to leave. I asked why and if we could be seated else where. She said no they weren't serving anyone and we needed to leave. We asked if we could get a refund for the game credits we purchased, because if we had known we would be told to leave, we would not have purchased anything. She pointed at where we could go for a refund. We went there and were told we would need to go back to the mall entrance for a refund. I decided to go back to restuarant area to see if I could speak to someone else. When I got back to the restuarant the server, who told us to leave, was speaking to a man and pointing at me. I smiled, waved and walked towards them, thinking this would be someone else I could speak to. I approached said "hello, how are you?". He was instantly hostile and told me we could not sit at the tables, because if we did the manager will see and we would have to be served. I asked if I could talk to the manager, he replied "I am the manager". I asked if we could sit anywhere, he continued on about how we would have to be served. Obviously I was very confused and told him so. He replied "I understand, but you're understanding what you want to understand". He then offered us a seat at a counter with dirty dishes on it and one single chair. I then left back to the mall entrance to see if I could get a refund. He followed and continued to get more hostile and defensive.I am a smaller woman, who really wasn't very angry, mainly confused and surprised that this very tall, bigger man would find me it appropriate to be so hostile and aggressive towards me for no real reason. A couple people from the group I was with witnessed some of this and were appalled at this managers behaviour, and got refunds for the game credits and left. Needless to say, I wouldn't reccomend this place. The games area is fun, but not family friendly, as there are plenty of drunk young adults and empty glasses around. The manager was unprofessional and aggressive. I am still shocked by the whole encounter. That manager should not be working in any customer...

Some of the worst service I’ve ever experienced. I was here late on Friday, October 5th and wrote the following email to the address listed on their website on Monday, October 8th. As of today - October 24th - I’ve received no response.

——————————— Hello,

I hope this email finds it’s way to the appropriate manager for bar/restaurant personnel.

I visited your venue on the night of Friday, October 5th along with a friend of mine. We were there for the Live Band Karaoke. I wanted to reach out to you regarding the absolutely abhorrent service we received.

My friend arrived at 9:30pm, and I arrived at 10pm. We sat on the ledge of the upper bowl surrounding the stage, near the bar. After several minutes of no acknowledgement from your staff, I walked over to the bar to order a couple of drinks. The bar staff was understandably busy, and so it took about 10 minutes or so to catch someone’s attention, at which point they were friendly and knowledgeable. I have no issue with the bar staff, as they were doing their best to keep up with demand.

What I do take issue with, however, is the service staff. We waited until 10:45 for a server to come over, which none ever did. Tables around us were receiving service in the form of food and drinks aplenty. But we seemed invisible. My friend eventually flagged someone down, who apologized and took our drink orders and brought menus. After a few minutes she returned to take our food order, which seemed to come out from the kitchen fairly quickly.

We did not see our server again until 11:25, at which point I ordered another drink. 25 minutes later, she came to check on us, and I informed her I was still waiting on the drink I had ordered 25 minutes prior. She again apologized and brought over my drink, which had been promptly poured 25 minutes prior by the bar staff and was waiting to be brought to our table.

Again, our server didn’t check on us until nearly 1am, at which point we asked for our bills since karaoke had ended at 12:30. She brought over the bills, which were wrong. She quickly corrected them, and we paid and left.

While the venue is fine, and the karaoke was enjoyable, the service we received was some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. I just thought you should be aware of the situation so that you can address it with your staff, or correct your schedule to have more servers on hand for busy Friday and Saturday nights.

Please feel free to contact me should you require any additional information or...
