This is an upbeat and quirky little joint that I've been wanting to try. I got my chance during this year's Le Burger Week as their burger entry stood out from the crowd with its Hawaiian theme and supposedly rib-based patties. While I didn't dislike the burger, I regret that it did not live up to the hype and was way overpriced for what I got. I couldn't tell that there was anything special about the patty -- it tasted like a regular ground beef patty, only it was REALLY thin. Good thing there were two of them. At first, I didn't understand why the cashier wanted to up-sell me a THIRD patty as normally a burger does not have room for three patties...unless of course they are paper-thin as was the case with this burger.
This will likely come across as more insulting than I intend, but this burger tasted A LOT like a McDonald's Big Mac and not the exotic and wholesome experience that was promised. I mainly mean this in terms of the ingredients, flavor profile and the thin but rich patties. If not for the sweeter tang of the mayo, you could have fooled me into thinking it was just a Big Mac had this been a blind taste test. Main difference is a Big Mac is $6 and this was $18.
Or at least it SHOULD have $18 had I not been misled into "purchasing" a side. I had no interest in buying any sides but the cashier told me that it "came with" one of three sides. I told her, "well if it COMES WITH IT, then sure, I might as well take the yam fries." I wasn't sure why my bill was so high until I realized that I was charged an additional $3 for the fries. That doesn't break the bank or anything, but all this persistent and sometimes forced upselling was...
Read moreWas quite excited to try this place for the first time, it will also be my last. We first started out by standing at the entrance waiting to be seated, because there was a big sign that said, please wait to be seated. There were only two other tables of people in the restaurant and after a few minutes of standing there one of the guys behind the bar came over and said just go sit down. My friend commented that we were standing there because the sign told us to wait.
I know QR codes for menus are becoming quite popular, but anyone going there who's not smartphone inclined would have trouble.
I was a little confused that I had to order online at my table on my phone ( once again, there was a sign on the table that said order on your phone). We realized afterwards that we could have gone up to the bar to order but that was not clear. You had to go pick up your food when they called out your table number. Go get your own cutlery, your own cup/ glass and then you had to clear your own table afterwards. Don't know what I tipped for.
I am generally very forgiving with restaurants and appreciative of when staff are overworked, and I don't like to leave negative reviews. Unfortunately, overall my experience here...
Read moreAs an FYI for anyone who orders delivery from this restaurant: Ordered lunch through skip and as the restaurant uses a separate delivery service, no delivery tracking whatsoever. Two hours went by with no delivery, called the restaurant and was told that the food had already been delivered with a signature. This was strange as my building requires a buzz code to enter and there had been no phone calls. Multiple back
Was waiting for repeat delivery (restaurant had to remake my order as they were unable to locate the initial one) and was called by an angry delivery driver why they were not able to get into the building. I found out that they had received address info that was my street but with a random street number and unit number. These orders are outsourced to doordash.
3 hours later I finally get my food, but definitely not how I wanted to spend my afternoon.
TLDR: these deliveries are outsourced to doordash. Not sure where the error was introduced but assume skip to restaurant was correct since this should be automated. Maybe human error in transcribing to the...
