Came here at random as it was late at night and options in this city is rather limited. Did a quick google search and found out that Ken's restaurant is still open late night even on a weeknight. I went in with low expectations as it was past midnight and that usually means stale old food, not the freshest ingredients, etc. Since it was late I wasn't expecting too much. However, this place totally blew my expectations out of the water. I ordered the beef (brisket) stew in a noodle soup. What I had was out of this world consider how simple/common this dish is. Typically you get the same generic broth with little to no flavor. The same broth you would use in all your standard picks such as the wonton noodle soup, duck noodle soup, etc. This was different. Upon my first sip, my taste buds were taken for an adventure. Right away the different, herbs and spices (from the stew gravy juices) punches you right in the face! Right away I know this wasn't your standard run of the mill late night restaurant selling old leftovers. I grabbed a piece of brisket and it simply melted in my mouth. The same aromatic taste from the broth, the quality of the meat and right away you can tell this badboy has been stewing until it was tender perfection. You literally do not need any teeth to enjoy their brisket. It's THAT tender. The noodles itself was typical and nothing to write home about. But it was fresh with al dente, not soggy and old like it's been sitting for a while. Portions were plentiful and we'll worth the money. You certainly won't go home hungry. And the ratio of meats and noodles were just right which is pleasant to see as you normally get a fist full of noodles with a few pieces of meat floating on top. This was perfect for a carnivore like myself. Service is what you would expect from a place like this. Not excellent, but certainly decent and prompt as my food came rather quickly and my glass of water never hit the bottom as it was constantly refilled. Overall I highly recommend it. This is truely a...

Considering that callers are being told a 1.5 hours wait to order due to the number of orders and numerous patrons outside waiting for orders, AMAZING job with what has been happening everywhere else in the world.
GREAT JOB once again, one of the best meals I picked up in 2020. Ordered early and expected to wait but the wait was worth it! Taste, consistency and value hit the mark once again.
Cheers! All the best in 2021 and stay safe!

Read moreIn Winnipeg, this is one of the few of the open-late restaurants. Decades of same (quite delicious) food served, consistent... no change. (Except this one time a main chef retired.) Well known among late night owls.
Food: mostly southern / western chinese style. Staff: the usual chinese arogance but friendly when you get to know them and relatively good service if you compare to some others. (Frankly I would be cranky if I am up 4am serving food... lol) Price: $12-20 per dish in 2016 Environment: square shaped hall that seats about 150-200. Lounge/bar is almost never open. Not the best furnitures but appropriate for after-bar drunk hungry people. Attire: they don't care. Parking: street parking. I had never had issues parking. Also, they do have a Impark around the corner approximately 10 seconds away.
I usually get dishes like: Fish Maw soup w/ crab FuJian Fried rice (generally I do not recommend fried rice but this one is alright) Supersnow (gigantic dish... careful if you are eating only 2, you wrap meat vege stir fry and eat with some vege.) Beef Gailan... well not so good lately. Deepfried squid with spicy salt (I just like deep fried stuff....
