I normally do not post reviews as I feel if its a minor thing I normally just let it go but in this case I am posting it so that people dont have to experience what we experience at diner time when we showed up in this restaurant first of all my wife book the private room 3 weeks ahead and at that time of booking she ask clearly is there a minimum of people to be able to book the private room and they said no as long as you book and its available its yours so she proceeded to book she ask again is there a fee or deposit require they answered "no need for a deposit fee" so my wife went ahead and book the date and she told them about 6-10 people will come. We were so dissapointed that when we got there they ask us if we dont mind that they gave our private room to someone else because those people could use the private room and there are only 6 of us and they will puting us in the main dining area. I told her well we do mind it,since we book this already way ahead why tell us now when we got here , she said there is nothing they can do that the manager will talk to us about it. So my wife said ok well sit in the meantime. Since we are all hungry we all decided to just stay and wait maybe the manager has a good excuse for doing this and tell us. The whole entire time that we sat there no one came to apologize, no manager in site. We ended up ordering and our order took close to one hour as we time it. We will never go back with the poor service we got! The ribs we order are not cheap close to $30 a plate for this price youre better off to go to a place like Montanas or Famous dave you would have gotten better food and better service, never again you lost us as a customer and there were a few of us looking forward to enjoy our meal in the private room, but it was ruined that night as the main dining area was very small and loud and you could hear people talking so dissapointed we left there no one seemed to care for...
Read moreRecently Went to Silver heights June 25th 2016. We had reservations at 6 pm for a friends going away dinner and had about 20 people there. Its was my third or forth time eating there and I was once again diissapointed. Felt it was about time I posted a review.
The service from the 2 waitresses was decent although they seemed very hard to find during our dinner to register any questions or concerns.
The salad i had was quite bare. Could have used some cucumbers, tomatoes or peppers at least. Dressing was store bought. I would have had the baked potato soup but they had run out. (on a Saturday at 6pm?)
Waitress recommended the Ribs. $30 for a whole rack. Chose the bbq sauce. Came with a small portion of overcooked vegetables. (1 piece of cauliflower , some celery and some other soft vegetable) They appeared with a sparse amount of sauce. The first two ribs were ok but became SUPER dry....even visibly. I stopped eating them and spent 10 minutes trying to flag down a waitress. She said she would see what she should do. As she did not return for 15-20 minutes I thought they would be returning with a fresh amount of the half of a rack I had not eaten which would have been "ok"
Instead she returned (not the manager) to say the manager would "take care of it" Well, i received a $2 off my $74 bill. The price of a half rack is $24 a full rack is $30. The waitress dropped off the bill and then disappeared. No one asked if we enjoyed our meal.
The price for value is NOT good for portion size or quality and management does not seem to care enough to even deal with customers directly.
The decor is also VERY dated for that kind of price point as well.
May go back for a beverage in their lounge but certainly NOT to...
Read moreAs tourists, we love exploring local restaurants to truly experience what the Country or Town has to offer. We were thrilled to find out that Silver Heights is the winner of the Best Barbeque Ribs in Town since 1957. Being Winnipeg’s longest-running family restaurant, we knew we had to give it a try, especially since we were already near Assiniboine Park.
We visited on a weekday afternoon, and the three of us shared a few different dishes from the menu. We had the pickerel, ribs (which came with salad and sides like fries and onion rings), and chicken fingers.
The food was great overall. The ribs lived up to their reputation—absolutely amazing and full of flavor—and the onion rings were crispy and delicious. I had high expectations for the pickerel, but it wasn’t quite to my taste, though that’s just my personal preference. The chicken fingers were okay, nothing too special, but still satisfying.
The price was a bit on the higher side, but given the quality of the food and the long-standing reputation of the restaurant, I can understand why. The service was decent, and the homey ambiance made it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal with friends or family. It's not just about the food, but about creating memories, which makes the experience even...
