Oh my goodness, I am still in awe after my dining experience today! This place was recommended by a dear friend, but I walked into Barbeque Hut with little expectation, but deep down hoping for something authentic, something that would transport me back to the roots of real Pakistani flavors. I’ve spent time in Oman during my childhood, and one of my fondest memories is the mouthwatering Mutton Karahi, served piping hot in a traditional wok (Kadai), cooked over a wood stove. That specific dish has been a part of my soul, and ever since we moved, I’ve longed for those exact flavors, that smoky richness, and the spices that would dance on my taste buds.
Well, today, Barbeque Hut didn’t just meet my expectations – it blew my mind. I was moved on a whole new level. As soon as that Lori Mutton Karahi and Beef Karahi hit the table, I was instantly transported back to those beautiful childhood days. The tears welled up because it was exactly what I remembered — the balance of spices, the tenderness of the meat, and that deep, soul-warming flavor. It was more than just food. It was an experience. The kind of experience that brings you joy, nostalgia, and a sense of connection to the past.
The atmosphere at Barbeque Hut was the perfect complement to the meal. The interior is cozy, rustic, and full of authentic charm, with thoughtful details like sizzling hot food served in traditional woks.
The service was outstanding—humble, efficient, and attentive. The staff made sure we were well taken care of, even offering to let us preorder next time to reduce wait time. They truly made the experience seamless.
As for the food… well, I’m lost for words. Each dish was a masterpiece, with layers of flavor that spoke of a true chef’s skill. To the chef, I bow down before you. You’ve truly mastered this art, and I am forever grateful for the unforgettable meal you’ve given me today.
If you’re in the mood for authentic Pakistani flavors that hit the soul, Barbeque Hut is where you need to be. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be coming back...
Read moreWent for their all you can eat dinner during Ramadan. Had to wait for a while for someone to greet us, but unfortunately, we had to wave at someone to ask that we made a reservation and where we could be seated. The table and chairs were extremely uncomfortable with very little space, we asked the one and only red valet shirt waiter to change our seats but he said it is not possible, although they had empty tables just infront of us (which remained empty for the entire duration of our stay which was about 2 hours). The chairs were very dirty, full of food residue and stains in the cusion. After a while, a group of people walked in stating that they made a reservation 24 hrs ago, and now the waiter was refusing to let them sit as they are currently full. The waiter and the walk-in person bashed each other over heated argument and then they left with frustration.
The line for the food was very long, the plates were dirty. Very limited food items compared to price. Food Name Labels were not displayed. The appetizer and fruits section were emptied out, and during our 2 hours of stay, it never got refilled. The Shik Kebab was the one and only most savory item in the menu and it ran out very fast and again it never got refilled in a 2 hour time period. Chicken Briyani had only rice, ran out of chickens. Grilled Chicken Drum Sticks tasted disgusting. Nihari, along with the beef/mutton curry were good. Wings were straight out of the micro oven and stale.
The entire floor was slippery and full of water and oil, which would make anyone slip and fall if you are not careful.
Food was overall good other than the stale items, but it never got refilled. Disgusting service, very congested space, disgusting atmosphere. Recommend to find somewhere else to eat where you will feel...
Read moreWow, what a great experience! We just had our son's birthday party at Barbeque Hut and it turned out awesome!
We had discussed the menu well in advance that included Chicken Biryani, Beef Seekh Kabab, Chicken Karahi along with Salad, Raita, Tandoori Naan and Cold Drinks. We had 42 guests including Kids. We had also discussed that we would come in the morning on the day of the event to decorate which we did. While decorating, we finalized seating arrangement with Jahangir Bhai to be separate tables with a buffet service instead of serving on joint long tables. Then we went home to get ready for the party.
We came back and saw that the entire back hall was properly cleaned, the buffet table was fancifully clothed (kudos to Sara as she went out and bought table cloth and paper topper matching the theme of our decorations). It all looked wonderful.
After cake cutting, dinner was ready on the agreed time and was served hot. Everything was served hot and fresh. The quantity of the food was appropriate to the number of guests and it was all very very tasty. Every single guest had good things to say about the arrangement, the timely service and taste of the food. People were like "Pakistan me Shadi walay arrangement or khaanay ki yad dila di!"
We were all excited for our son's birthday party but Jahangir bhai and his team made it even more joyous and memorable for us and our guests. Jahangir bhai stayed at the restaurant from morning when we went to decorate to night until we left which showed his dedication. We don't have many options for authentic Pakistani food in Winnipeg and Barbeque Hut is one of our usual go-to's but this experience topped all our expectations. Hopefully Jahangir Bhai will maintain this quality in events and regular dinner service...
