Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place due to the very poor quality of the food. I ordered braised octopus with vegetables and a salad, and unfortunately it was the worst octopus I have ever eaten (and I have tried several excellent quality octopuses, even in restaurants without a Michelin star). The octopus was tough and rubbery, the vegetables were just a frozen mix covered with jarred tomato puree, the rice was sticky – simply badly cooked. The red cabbage salad was the best part of the meal.
My husband ordered fish (the menu stated it was grilled) but it was pan-fried and dripping with oil (I’d rather not know what kind). He also ordered octopus, which was supposed to be grilled as well – but it wasn’t. It was just as rubbery and tough, as if it had been cooked together with mine and simply covered with sauce.
Unfortunately, the quality and execution were very poor. It’s a pity, because the atmosphere was really great. From the outside everything looked good, even the chicken on the grill, and we were assured the food would be grilled.

Not only the taste is good, but the prices are also very cheap and the portions are quite big. Next to this, the lady cooking and serving is one of the nicest people we have met while traveling. She understood that I couldn't eat gluten after showing a Portuguese card explaining it. If you are not sure what to pick, she has no trouble with advising you her greatest meals. Although the look of the place could improve a bit, the laughter of the lady serving really lights up the whole restaurant. A...
Read moreTHE tip for anyone who wants to try Cape Verdean food in Santa Maria! Here, and practically only here, you can find Cape Verdean or African food! The owner is a charming Cape Verdean, and the ambiance is deliberately African, without any pretentiousness or artificiality. Yes, it's imperfect compared to all the posh restaurants in Santa Maria. But we're in Africa, and at least here you can feel it! I recommend trying the chepie, which the landlady serves with a hearty onion sauce. Delicious food at a (relatively) tiny price. I enjoyed being a guest here...
