Donde Blanca — Restaurant in Santiago

Came here for lunch and was blown away. It’s on the southeast corner of the market and you can actually see it if you enter via Av San Pablo.

When sitting down they gave us a cup of seafood soup. That was so flavourful, we knew it was going to be great from here! We got three items - shrimps, calamari, and a crab stew. The calamari was some of the freshest we’ve ever tasted, as it was so soft and yet flavourful. The crab stew was a bit heavy but had entire pieces of claw inside. If we had come for dinner I would have ordered rice - it seems wrong not to each this with some carbs. Came out to about 25k CLP.

The wait staff has this family attitude - we saw three people arrive during lunch and they were greeted like old friends returning. It’s very heartwarming to see and I’m sad that I won’t be here often enough to get the same treatment.

O atendimento foi cordial desde o início; e a cortesia era bem satisfatória - pão, sopa, molho de pimenta e pisco. Éramos duas pessoas. No cardápio é possível achar pratos de pescados e mariscos de diversos preços, inclusive alguns bem acessíveis a público que pretende algo mais tranquilo. Optamos - como na foto - pelo salmão (10.000 pesos) e a "pescada frita" de "6.000 pesos". A qualidade dos peixes era muito boa. Ambos estavam bem frescos! No meu caso, porém, o garçom - que insistia na hora do pedido para escolher outro peixe mais nobre, apesar de apontar e indicar o de 6.000 pesos - acabou, por "erro", trazendo uma pescada "mais cara" (8.500 pesos, salvo engano merluza austral), cuja informação só obtive quando a conta veio. Estava boa, porém. Infelizmente o equívoco não é "tão raro" no mercado. A primeira vez que fui lá foi em 2006 e por ser um local turístico os estabelecimentos nem sempre atendem com precisão e a contento, o que é uma pena, frise-se. Apesar deste único "inconveniente" no almoço, acredito que o restaurante é uma boa opção no mercado. Traz ótimo custo-benefício pelos pratos apresentados e fornece opções acessíveis, considerando que comer no Chile - para brasileiros - nem sempre é uma opção econômica. Por fim, repise-se, tal como em outros estabelecimentos do local, é válido estar atento nos pedidos e informações do restaurante para receber e pagar tudo que...

Absolutely awful menu del dia.

Had the 6000CUP. Started off well with the fish soup and the pisco sour. The Marisco soup was awful- tasteless, pieces of undistinguishable seafood .

The fried fish was even worse- battered was horrible with the fish meat inside inedible.

The house wine was terrible- tasted like bad wine with apple juice in it- was cloudy.

Didn’t stay for desert as felt the meal was inedible so was no point...
