El Terrat — Restaurant in Valparaíso

It started out great! The manager of the restaurant was very gracious and opened a little early for our tour group.

Once seated my son and I ordered drinks, an appetizer and food with this terrible waiter, Richard. He didn’t seem friendly, (in fact he seemed annoyed we were there) although he spoke great English.

After placing our orders we waited for 25 mins to FINALLY get our food, ceviche and ribs. Richard would tend to other tables, making sure everyone got the their food ahead of us. When the dishes finally came out, he walked passed our table to serve other patrons first (patrons who sat much after we did) and weirdly made sure we got our plate last. I could hear him apologizing to others for issues, but never apologized for the extremely long wait for our food.

We were upset but didn’t say anything and asked another waiter for a to-go box. Afterwards, Richard aggressively walked up to us and said “what’s the problem??” I was shocked! How dare he ask me that question as if he should be the one frustrated for not getting good service and mediocre food instead of us! He claims he thought we had more time to stay because the tour guide gave him a deadline, but that doesn’t matter, I want my food in a timely manner. We didn’t want to be held hostage in the restaurant the entire time we had in Valparaiso, now we weren’t able to do other things.

Richard was an awful waiter! I spoke with the manager, who was professional and respectful. He apologized, explained it could also be a delay in the kitchen but wanted to understand what went wrong. He seemed sincere and I hope he can train this waiter to be more welcoming to all guests and to put orders in right away. If the kitchen is delayed, prepare the guests in advance so they will not be disappointed for the long wait time. An apology from Richard and being gracious would have went along way, his attitude towards us was very disingenuous.

I personally did not like the ceviche (not enough flavor) the ribs were good but not hot, another disappointment. The lemonade/ginger beer was a bit sour but it was good. The terrace itself is beautiful, with great views. I just wish my experience here could have...

Anfitrión nos ofrece mesa a borde de terraza con la vista, al subir al piso correspondiente no se facilitó la mesa ofrecida por que llegó un grupo con 4 personas más, (10 versus 6) no hubieron posibilidades de cambiar en ningún momento, se nos quitó elApetito, solo Comprando unas papas fritas “rústicas” era papas delgadas, sin relleno, secas y con exceso de aceite. Compartimos algo de beber ya que estábamos en el lugar, la atención en todo momento a la defensiva, un Garzón en especifico, y los otros al cual se les hacían preguntas nunca llegaban con las respuestas. MALA EXPERIENCIA, si no fuera poco, no se le entrega la Propina “sugerida” al cual el Garzón (por justa razón) se molesta el y todos se molestan de igual forma. ni si quiera miraban al retirarnos, nos despedimos y ellos ni el mínimo interés de hacerlo, de manera al menos “cordial” el que terminó quedando mal fue el Anfitrión que nos ofreció e invitó a subir. (BONITA VISTA) pero tercera visita que hago y aun no puedo lograr disfrutar una comida con la tremenda vista que tiene el Local. Totalmente lamentable. Desde santiago me organice para ir temprano y tener la mejor vista para mi aniversario, llegue y resulta que habían mesas desocupadas, la que yo quería estaba desocupada y mi felicidad era plena porque el plan estaba perfecto hasta ese momento. Al lado de esa mesa había una pareja con un bb en una mesa de 4 sillas y al otro lado una pareja, resulta que al momento de pedir la mesa la garzona me dice que esa estaba reservada y llega un grupo de amigas y preguntan si habían mesas disponibles y ella les apunta la que yo quería, NUNCA ESTUVO RESERVADA. La quede mirando y me dice esa mesa es para 4 … aparte de mentirme me obliga a sentarme donde ella indica …. UNA LASTIMA, ya que, si promocionan la vista linda que tienen deben tener en cuenta el orden de llegada y donde el cliente quiere estar. Resulta que me dio mucha pena la situación xq ellas solo tomaron una michelada y se fueron, yo al momento de que me negaron la mesa opte solo por comer una entrada y tomarme algo pata pasar el mal rato y retirarme. Yo venia a celebrar, almorzar y beber pero no Me Dieron ganas de seguir ahí, priorizaron la cantidad pero consumieron menos que dos. Una lastima. No lo recomiendo x el mal...
