Read moreCame here for a dinner while in Santiago. We had decently high expectations and sadly the service was not very good. While the food was good (especially the sashimi and sushi), we were disappointed in the service. The waiter initially did not write down our order and I asked if he would remember given we ordered quite a few items. He assured us yes but then proceeded to ask us half way through our dinner what our order was again, which resulted in a delay of some of our food arriving. We got a different sushi roll than what we had originally ordered and at the end they still forgot our nigiri that we had ordered twice. We also sadly had some hair in our chicken karage but they were kind enough to waive that from our bill. We were hoping to order dessert at the end of our dinner but no one came by after we finished dinner for almost 20 minutes, and therefore, we felt it was not worth ordering dessert.
We still enjoyed the food and thought it was pretty good quality. However, for a restaurant that charges as much as it does, we certainly expect better service. There are sushi restaurants that serve just as good, if not better, sushi with much better service. Overall the experience sadly did not meet our...
Read moreWe got to Fukusawa for our reservation at 6:00 and ordered cocktails to start. When the cocktails arrived, we tried to order food but we were told that only a handful of items on the menu were available before 7. My Spanish was not good enough to tell if this was a usual thing or an emergency staffing problem. If the former, very surprising we were not told when making the reservation. Perhaps it was a staffing problem; service was slow even though it was almost empty.
The food we got to try was not very good.
A shrimp appetizer that had a bit of texture from some nori and tempura (?) flakes but mostly just tasted mushy. Disappointing for Japanese food where texture is so important. Sashimi of salmon (good), tuna (good), and a white fish (reineta?) that was full of stringy connective tissue. We did not finish it. A wagyu roll that was overcooked to the point that the wagyu was no longer tender (!) and then drowned in a sweet sesame sauce (!!) [photo]
A temaki roll and our cocktails were the only things that lived up to our expectations. Fukusawa was the biggest disappointment of our trip...
