Been here countless times for lunch! Sometimes it is fish and chips, chicken al King etc. The set lunch was southern fried chicken with chips so I just had to go in! Usually with fried chicken I would hesitate because fried chicken can be very dry and it depends which part of chicken they use. However, there was no hesitation, the food here is consistently good in my experience and I love SOUTHERN fried chicken because it contains lots of herbs and spices. Anyway, the starter came quickly, followed by the main course. It was such a treat because there was a huge dollop of mayonnaise! MAYONNAISE! Real mayonnaise, not the disgusting chinesey mayonnaise/salad cream that ruins everything! The chicken was coated with breadcrumbs and off bones, slightly different to what I expected. Usually the coating of Southern fried chicken is aromatic and contains paprika and herbs, however this one was plain. Although it was not what I was expecting, the quality of the chicken was brilliant, it was presented like an escalope. The chicken was tender and juicy inside, it was the thigh part of the chicken. The chips were light golden yellow too, and not overly crispy. I immediately began dipping the chips in the mayonnaise, a much missed thing I did in the UK, especially eating fried chicken and chips from PFC in East London, mayonnaise always comes with it. Even though the chicken could have been better, I was happy just having chips with...
Read moreI live in Macau and was visiting a couple of friends who live in HK.
I visited Devils Advocate in the evening of 1st June, 2024. Overall, a very good experience! Was able to enjoy a few drinks, eat some good food and enjoy the company and conversation of a couple of friends for 5 hours WITHOUT being hassled for the bill and WITHOUT being constantly asked whether I wanted 'Another drink?' every minute! Brilliant!
The Boss and the staff were pleasant and accomodating! I asked for a sample of a beer one of my friends recommended but I'd not previously drunk. The bar staff duly obliged. Great!
When we ordered 3 different items of food, they didn't arrive 60 seconds later. Whoever cooked the food for us, took their time and cooked it properly for us! All of us were VERY satisfied with our food! Superb!
I'll definitely make Devils Advocate my first port of call the next time I'm in Hong...
Read moreNever going to LKF ever again after experiencing Wednesdays in Wan Chai and 20s for mixed drinks! Probably the cheapest place to get gin & tonic in Hong Kong. Be prepared to have actual 20 bills ;) 10+10 is not accepted. 100HKD is for 3 Jäger bombs, even though there's plenty of folks getting a beer at 7/11 and chilling in front of the bar. I like the atmosphere inside and outside. Great place to go after the horse races and afterwards you can go to other clubs yo continue to party because it closes at 3am. The only issue I've had with the bouncer in front of the toilet, I know they want to avoid chaos, but there's no need to be rude. I didn't try the food so I can't...
