I want to share my horrible experience in order to warn any potential future guests before they will book a stay at Brighton Hotel Hong Kong. ||I had the very disgusting experience of find cockroaches in my room the morning of my check-out. I didn't know since when they have been there or how many of them there was, because as soon as I found them I ran out of the room with my luggage. After I told the receptionist about the incident and asked many times to speak with a manager about it and asked for a refund of my stay, the only thing that she was able to give me was her apologies and only after many insistence I just obtained the email of one manager which she suggested to use to get a 10% discount on a future stay in this hotel. ||I know it was Sunday morning and from what the receptionist said she was alone there because it was a rest day for the manager. I understand that, but due to the unacceptable incident, not just for a four star hotel but even for an hostel, I at least expect that she would have let me speak through the phone with the manager. I asked in the morning to alert the manager that we would have a call later around 1pm when I would have come back to collect my luggage, because I understood that maybe it was to early to disturb him on a Sunday morning. But even when I came back the receptionist just repeated that in order that my stay had been paid in advance I couldn't get a refund and she didn't help me to get in touch with the manager apart from give me his email for the future discount already mentioned.||I wrote straight the following day but just now after 5 days I did get a reply with the reject of my refund and the offer of a discount and upgrade on my future stay, as if I would give them more money.||This is totally unacceptable, unprofessional and downright rude!||Nothing can amend the bad feelings that I have from my experience, but at least a refund and apologies would had shown their good intentions, but having the mere audacity to offer a discount on ANOTHER stay, as if I'd wish to stay in an insect ridden room...

Lobby is at level 3 which was quite nicely decorated. There was only one staff at check in thankfully not too many were checking in.

Room is very small and a little worn. There's a fridge but not cold. Safe wasn't working. No bottled water. No toothpaste and brush. No face towels. Only has shampoo and shower foam. Shower head was broken when I turned on so had to call front desk to get handyman to come fix. After that, I discovered there was no hot water and had to shower in cold water. TV has no movie channels.

Next morning I called front desk but no answer. Went down to inform about the water heater and safe, there was no one checking in. Front staff said they will fix it while I'm out. Came back to the room in the evening, the safe is finally working but not the heater. As it was late, I had to shower with cold water again. Found out also my rubbish wasn't cleared and floor wasn't vacuumed. [see pics] High chance the sheets were not changed too. To add to the unpleasantness, the talking loudly at the corridors and door slammings from next door neighbours are very audible at 7am when I needed a longer sleep.

There is no breakfast at this hotel due to space but the locality is great amongst all food and convenience stores. That's the best plus point. Beds and pillows were ok. I hope they fix the issues cos it's really not worth the money I paid.

Update on my 3rd night 28th April 2024: Sheets confirmed didn't change cos the stain on the sheets is the same [see pic]. Carpet again not vacuumed. Water heater is still not working.

Stay away...

Stayed in lots of HK hotels in the same price range. Average in terms of size and mediocre service. However, just because it’s in line with others, doesn’t mean it deserve 3 stars let alone 5.|A disgrace to call this place a "hotel". It's stripped bare beyond what a hotel should be. I guess they think the term "Hotel" is synonymous to "Hostel".|1) Thinnest walls architecturally possible. Someone's TV was super noisy at 6am. I could hear people moving about their room.|2) Bare bones amenity. No hand cream, not cotton pads, not shaver, no hand/face towel, just 2 bath towels.|4) No shaver outlet (2 prong). Went to the front desk to borrow one, they require cash deposit, won't take credit cards.|5) Shower only, no tub.|6) No shower gel, only bath foam, but remember? They only have a shower. |7) Just a half used toilet roll, no extras anywhere.|8) List of charges on the desk for anyone to see, should you steal or mess up any of their items in the room. Really welcoming way to greet your guests.||Fast check in and check out. I'll give it to them for efficiency. |Location is good too, close to MTR station and lots of bars and restaurants around.|However, no understanding of hospitality of any kind in line with a normal hotel. |If you are only crashing for a night without taking a shower/shaving/washing your face, this will do, but for anything beyond that I'd look elsewhere.|They had plaques of some awards in the lobby about being chosen as the best. Really? Did they pay...

Rooms are a little on the small side, but it's a worthy trade-off for the relatively cheap price. (Remember land is at a premium here in Hong Kong). The place is clean and quiet, none of that run-down feeling you get from some other budget hotels. The restroom is not cramped. The building has a restaurant on 1F, a business on 2F, and everything above is the hotel with the lobby on 3F. Prime location: just a few doors down from Wan Chai station exit C, within walking distance to the Convention & Exhibition Centre and the waterfront. Be aware they do require a deposit of HK$500 by cash or credit card.

Though the location is convenient, the hotel is very dirty. The showers flood and smells like mold. Receptionist is also rude af. Please retrain your staff and instruct them not to toss my passport/cards back to me, it is EXTREMELY rude. Keep in mind you also need to deposit 500 hkd for staying at this hotel. If you don’t have cash for the deposit you can use credit card but it will take minimum 2 weeks for you to get the refund. But you know what just avoid this place altogether. Expensive, dirty, rude. Don’t let the staff ruin your mood for the day. Cons outweigh the 1 pro (location).
