The two stars are for the amazing avocado toast and wonderfully smooth mocha. It's a shame though as the rest was pretty average or even severely below average. Came here with high expectations based on the reviews and raves online. Nevertheless, I'm not raving. The service was pretty bad. Okay, I don't need to be friends with every coffee guy out there but he could've tried a tad harder not to show his attitude. To add to this, the music was really loud, totally tasteless. It seemed that the guys behind the bar played for themselves as they discussed the artist. Bad electronic music really can send everything downhill. Rather than at a coffee shop with a pleasant ambiance I felt I entered a private party place and was rushed out pretty fast. To crown it all, I had another mocha with a chocolate croissant which clearly wasn't fresh. I'm a croissant addict and I know how fresh morning pastry tastes. Mine was a good day old. When I pointed this to the waiter he said it was all fresh and abruptly turned his back on me. Not exactly the approach one would enjoy. All in all, it seems they just rid themselves of a potential regular. Guess it doesn't matter as this places caters to masses and masses don't need tact with their...
Read moreVisited here as my wife said this used to be her favorite place during her 5-year stay in this beautiful island of HK, but turned out to be the worst place during our stay this time.
I read through most of the recent comments, and could agree on some of the points: the staff is very cold & is only attentive to non-Asian foreigners, and that coffee is mediocre.
The sandwich itself is of good quality, I must say. My wife, who used to have good memories when she says there were not many Fineprint branches, told me that she also was deeply disappointed and wanted to gave a 0.5 star, not available on Google reviews. I wanted to give a solid 2, so gave an average of that here.
I could see why Fineprint used to be a go-to place for expats living in HK for a light Western-style breakfast, and I could also see why it lost such a vibe. It does happen to other bars or cafes of quick success in other major cities like Singapore, Tokyo or Seoul. I wish (so does my wife) that Fineprint revives up that good vibes again while keep expanding the number of branches. Keeping up quality of food and staff with quick growth in number of branches is not an easy job, but I will give my...
Read moreFineprint is an Australian style coffee shop and wine bar that has a branch along Lily Street in Tai Hang. They are open from 6am to midnight daily and serve up really good coffee and light bites. This branch has limited indoor seating so be ready for take-away if full up. They also do delivery in the area as well.
We recently stayed at the Little Tai Hang hotel just around the corner and found ourselves here early in the morning a couple of times. Mocha and White Coffees were made very well, better than your average cup taken in Hong Kong coffee shops. We also had the Spicy Salami Toastie that was delicious. The bread was toasted just fine, the salami, pesto and mozzarella just fine. A bit of nduja is added to give it a kick! This was a great morning toastie, like their coffee drinks, well worth repeat ordering.
Overall, we were pleased with Fineprint. So rare to find a coffee shop with opening hours this early in Hong Kong. Coffee drinks and food order were really good on both occasions, similar to the nice coffee drinks we have had at the branch on Peel Street in Central. Will gladly stop by this branch again the next time we...
