Really disappointing experience. There are few restaurants in HK that do Spanish food well so I was hoping that Que Pasa would provide authentic Spanish food. Unfortunately, the quality of the food and drinks is no where near real style Spanish food. We had a variety of tapas and the paella but I don’t think the chef understands how the food is supposed to taste, or he sent it out way below standard. The black paella was soggy, the gamba’s didn’t have any flavour, and the sangria is clearly something they haven’t put effort in to provide an authentic taste.
The staff are nice and friendly but they made a few slip ups while we’re there that shouldn’t happen. They forgot to replace our cutlery while the food was on the table (waiting time 5+ minutes), they asked the table next to us to move midway through the meal because the person placing people at tables made an error, they mixed up orders, and staff came by multiple times even through drink and food orders had been taken already.
Overall, I feel that the porkcentric concept wasn’t working before and now management has tried something different. Unfortunately it’s the same disappointing quality as previously. The environment looks really nice and it is at a prime location so I hope improvements...
Read moreWe started with the Pierogies. So yummy! Great depth of flavor. I mean, how can you go wrong with potato and cheese? :)
For our mains we ordered the Hungarian Pork Chop Tomahawk and the Eggs Tagliolini Pasta. The pasta was nice and al dente and the sauce was amazing (sea urchin, YUM!!). The Pork was PERFECTLY cooked to medium and had an amazing char. We look forward to coming back to try the Dry Aged Kurobuta Pork Collar Steak. For our side we chose the Lentil Sauerkraut. Even though it came out a bit late, it was actually a great way to finish the savory part of the meal. The kraut was almost like a palet cleanser. It was a NICE and sour :)
For desert, we shared the Nutella Parfait. Delicious. (raspberry and Nutella, SO GOOD!)
We will be back SOON!
Side note: the cocktails were also quite...
Read moreGood restaurant as far as Spanish cuisine in Hong Kong goes. The dishes are kept pretty authentic, although it’s lacking the truly strong flavour that one often looks for. The Paella carrying more pan burnt flavour than rich sauce. The smokiness of the cooking should add to the flavour and not dominate but this happens when the execution is a little off and the rice left on top long. The cauliflower dish was a nice surprise, perfect texture and the flavour really was brought out well. The quarter chicken was nicely moist and roasted well, the accompanying sauce really did have a nice bit of flavour and spice to it. Overall I’d say it’s a good meal, I wouldn’t expect to be wowed but if you’re after tapas style then it...
