Happy Kitchen Cafe & Bar by German Pool — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

Great cafe/kitchen place in the heart of causeway bay! The cafe is situated above the German Pool store, and it's a lovely place for both lunch, brunch, coffee, or tea.

I ordered the Hainanese chicken set with a mango slushie and sesame ice cream. I orderd the drink and dessert as part of the lunch set, which makes it a bit cheaper than ordering individually. Hainanese chicken set: extremely nice. the chicken even comes boneless, which is a bonus for me - decent poetion size to fill you up, but if you eat a lot, you can always order extra rice. Mango slushie: good. large and a lot of mangoes. sesame ice cream: normally, this comes with peanuts on top, but I dont like penauts, so I wrote on my order, no peauts. Instead, they gave me some sprinkles with chocolate sauce, and that was slightly weird. I'm not sure if it's the chocolate sauce or the ice cream in general, but the sesame ice cream tasted more like chocolate ice cream. It's not too bad, though, and large portion size, too.

I believe you have to join the free germal pool membership in order to get the members' price for the food, which makes the food even cheaper. If you write a 5 star review on google, you also get a 10HKD discount - FYI, I gave 5 stars not for the discount but genuinely because it's a lovely and relaxing cafe.

Cafe has a self-service area for water and napkins. The seating area is modern and not overly busy, which is rare in Hong Kong - this means you can actually take your time and relax! No wifi as part of the cafe , at least I couldn't see any, but there's wifi via fashion walk but only for a limited time. Since it's not extremely busy, I think it's fine to sit here to work. Air con machines everywhere throughout the cafe, so it gets a bit chilly. Staff are friendly :)

The overall experience from Happy Kitchen Cafe is great, however their reviews look suspicious as the restaurant buys out the review from customers. The restaurant is located inside the German Pool showroom, it's a good place to showcase their home appliance, especially for their Mini Korean Barbecue Grill. The food and dessert here are actually great, and the environment is cozy, tables are not packed at all, and a good place for chatting and relaxing dinner. However, there are so many high ratings reviews on Maps, as they offer a $10 discount upon leaving a 5 star review. 😅sat down for a coffee while waiting my family… and they arrived early so I gotta go… pretty unpleasant experience at the resto as

1. they got no take away cup so I had to leave my unfinished coffee…

2. and they got a $50 minimum charge so I said ok just charge me $50 (the coffee was $38)… turned out their system could not add $12 to my bill so they added 2 $10 rice to it so I paid $58 for the unfinished coffee… I dont mind for the minimum charge but I think they had to act consistently to what they advertised...
