Excellent and sumptuous hotel buffet at reasonable price point. While the walk-in price for dinner is HKD758-798 (+10%), you can book online or use Klook to get a considerable discount. One big reason we picked PLAYT was the time limit - you can slowly enjoy for the full 3 hours. (Some comparable locations we checked on Klook have a 2-hour limit which is doable but a bit rushed...) Service is excellent. Even though the place is busy, it is well-maintained, staff are friendly, dishes are replenished constantly (even the popular ones), fast-moving queues, comfortable ambience. Dedicated team that constantly removes used plates, refills water, answers queries. Stealthy ninja removal of used plates: there one instant, gone the next. The food variety is excellent: good quality sashimi and sushi, wide variety of chilled seafood (including crab legs and freshly shucked oysters), salad section, extensive Chinese section (including good quality dim sum, vegetables, seafood), Indian section (curry chicken and roti very yummy), Japanese (Wagyu beef sukiyaki highly-recommended), Western section (suckling pig highly-recommended). Then lots of desserts - mille-feuille, creme caramel, ice cream (we enjoyed the durian, pistachio, moutai flavours!). The individual portions are small so that you can try everything. The staff readily give more if you ask. To end the meal, you can ask for a hot drink too. The vast majority of items were good or excellent; a handful of items were just OK. Quality exceeded our expectations of a good 4-star hotel, but the variety was most impressive indeed. Definitely a great place for...
Read moreI recently visited Playt with high expectations, but unfortunately, my experience fell far short. The overall quality of the food was subpar, and several dishes left much to be desired.
To start, the seafood offerings were a letdown. The crab legs and lobsters were noticeably not fresh, which was particularly disappointing given that these are usually highlights of any buffet. The caviar, unfortunately, tasted fishy and cheap, lacking the refined flavor one would expect.
The beverage selection also missed the mark. The sparkling wine and Bollinger had an off-putting, weird taste, which was surprising and not in a good way.
As for the other dishes, they were mostly standard—nothing exceptional, but not terrible either. However, the desserts were another area of disappointment. The serradura and tiramisu were far from authentic.
The only redeeming qualities were the scallop sashimi and the ice cream, which were fresh and enjoyable. Unfortunately, these few bright spots weren’t enough to salvage the overall experience.
In summary, this buffet was a letdown. The lack of freshness in key dishes, the poor quality of certain items, and the overall mediocrity made for a rather unpleasant dining experience. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a...
Read moreWhen seeing the spread for the first time after arriving in Hong Long just the previous night, the look of it was pretty appealing and got me excited !!! BUT the moment I took my first plate and have my first bite, the excitement start to fade away. The taste feel normal, nothing to get excited about. After finishing my first plate of Asia spread, dun really feel like getting another one for the western spread. After having trying the Asia spread on the next day, I am quite reluctant to go for the 3rd day, would rather eat the cake I brought on previous day for my kiddo’s birthday. Perhaps it might also be due to the service crew definitely dun make me feel welcome into Playtz. Anyway, if you have a small kid (less than 3 years old) with you, it might still be worth it to get the breakfast; more for convenient of ensuring your kiddo will not starve than...
