Apt. Coffee Wanchai — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

I came here based on reviews and I heard the coffee was good. Hidden in the Wan Chai area. Lovely little place and an easy 10 minute walk from the MTR. Hip, cool and had that urban feel. Light music. Nice atmosphere. Small number of tables. Some inside and more outside. Staff are friendly and polite. Good service. The toast tailoring is very popular which was good. I wish more places did this! I went with two toppings. You can choose up to four. Pick your bread. I had sourdough. Then choose a spread. I didn't want a spread so I just chose two toppings. Some toppings are an additional cost. You will then get two toasts tailored with the toppings you want! I went with the poached egg and mushroom. The toast tailoring was very popular and everyone was practically having it. Portions are big and generous. Nicely presented and very good. The poached eggs were spot on. Simple and needed after too much spice and noodles. The iced black was one of the best I had. Perfect. Not too strong as I asked. They still accept cash. Best to order at the counter, pay and then sit down if dining in and they will then bring the food to you when ready. ...

APT. Coffee is a recently opened coffee shop on Moon Street in the Starstreet Precinct of Wanchai. Opening hours are 8am to 6.30pm daily.

Decor is sharp, tidy with a Scandinavian feel. Tables are small and somewhat tightly arranged, typical in Hong Kong, with indoor and outdoor seating.

Menu is simple with a map for helping your order both black and white coffee drinks. This is a novel concept and something that makes you wonder why other coffee shops hadn't thought to make a simple coffee ordering menu like this before.

During our first visit, we tried a double espresso and flat white coffees. Both were made decently. Espresso was a light and bitter, white coffee was too milky for our liking. Not sure we would return for coffee drinks alone as there are better options in the area like Coco Espresso and Noc. I have always wanted to try Apt. Coffee since it opened. However, there is a weekend special dish of pancake, so I saved it for a weekend. Visiting during weekend means more people waiting, and Apt. Coffee does not have a lot of seats (not to mention indoor seats…). We were lucky to get two outdoor seats, even though it’s in the alley facing the trash collection station…Glad that there wasn’t lots of smell. But it was quite hot on a sunny afternoon…

Of course we got this weekend special. Even though it’s not the sweet pancake we expected, it’s an awesome Crab Cake. It’s made with shredded potato mixed with plenty of crab meat, with a soft boil egg and delicious cheese dressing on top. The whole cake was very enjoyable!
