Prime Pho: A Bit Hit and Miss, Innit?

I recently popped into Prime Pho as it was close to the mid levels escalator after a long day and had a bit of a mixed bag. On the plus side, I really enjoyed the beef broth in the pho. It was proper lush and flavourful. However, the chicken pho was a bit of a letdown, really. It tasted more like a standard chicken noodle soup than a proper pho.

The service was a bit on the slow side, too. The beef pho arrived before the veg, and the chicken pho took longer than expected. So we were waiting to start our meal as the beef pho started to chill. I think the wait staff noticed we hadn't started as we only had one bowl on the table and I heard them rush the vegetables. To be honest, at the prices they're charging, you'd expect a bit more efficiency. It felt a bit like the price wasn't quite worth...

Would never go to this restaurant again!! Understand that restaurants in Central are generally very busy during lunch and most would be expecting your lunch to be an hour (they usually tell you before you sit down, this place said nothing). We sat down at 12:15 for lunch, ordered at 12:20 and when the food arrived, during the lunch, they proceeded to ask us 3 times if we were done, trying to take our bowls away. By the time we finished eating it was 12:55 and they had the audacity to ask us a forth time to go pay. I would never come here again, most unwelcoming experience. When I told the manager we've been here for less than 45 mins, he just rolled his eyes at me. Yeah no thanks, will not be...

This could be my new favorite pho in HK. The soup was as tasty as it was fragrant, down to the last spoonful. You can really taste the different spices. The closest to the beef pho in California, its flavor is clean yet bold. The noodles were perfectly chewy and remained that way throughout. The light and crispy fried donut was a nice touch. Never had ox tail and tongue in pho before. Unnecessary but oh-so-good. The meat fell off the tail bone with the slightest grip of the chopsticks. The beef parts all tasted a bit bland. Maybe all the flavor went into making the broth, or the broth overpowered the food. This doesn't take away from the overall satisfaction. Will be back for...

Found Hair in Food, Rude Service – Never Again This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Hong Kong. First, I found a hair in my food, which is absolutely unacceptable. To make matters worse, the waiter was shockingly rude—he snatched the menu right out of my hand without a word, showing zero respect or basic manners. The overall atmosphere was cold and unwelcoming. With so many better pho spots in Hong Kong that offer both great food and courteous service, there’s no reason to come here. I won’t be returning, and I strongly suggest others avoid this place too.

This shop is tucked away behind a street market on Graham Street, Central. The fact that it was crowded despite its relatively inconvenient location vouches for their food quality! Must try the [ Prime Pho Bo ] with a delightful and flavorful broth. It comes with different cuts of beef - sliced beef, brisket, oxtail, tendons, ox tongue, etc - and a homemade deep-fried breadstick. We also enjoyed the [ Garlic butter chicken wings ] too. 〔 Follow me on instagram @sikbaobaola ! ^^ 〕
