TMK Rap & Rolls — Restaurant in Hong Kong Island

Last Saturday night, I had the pleasure of dining at TMK Rap and Roll in Wan Chai, and it was a fantastic experience! The vibe was perfect for a night out, featuring decent music that complemented the atmosphere while still allowing for easy conversation with friends.

We opted for the $198 tasting menu, which turned out to be an excellent choice, especially considering the $150 free-flow sake and beer offer. Here are some highlights from our meal:

Edamame: A classic starter, perfectly seasoned and fresh.

TMK House Salad: This was a standout dish! The shredded cabbage was incredibly fresh and refreshing, making it a perfect choice for a hot summer evening.

Salmon Tataki: This dish completely changed our perception of traditional tataki. The flavors were vibrant and paired beautifully with the accompanying sauces.

Salmon Fornia: While I wanted to try something different, the chef suggested the T Dragon Roll instead—and it was amazing! The combination of flavors was delightful.

Chicken Karaage: This dish transported me back to Osaka with its authentic taste. The crispy fried chicken was a highlight, capturing the essence of Japanese cuisine.

Mentaiko Udon: Delicious, but it would have been even better if we could choose between a cold or hot dish. Regardless, it was a satisfying end to our meal.

Although we were too full to order dessert, I’ve heard great things about the fried banana and will definitely make it a point to try it next time.

Other than the excellent food from Chef Tony, the service from Abi and Christina was perfect!

I recently dined at TMK Rap in Wan Chai, and I can confidently say it deserves every one of its five stars! From the moment I walked in, I was enveloped by a vibrant atmosphere that set the tone for an incredible evening.

Food The menu is a delightful fusion of flavors, showcasing creativity and quality. Every dish I tried was a testament to the chef's skill and passion for food. The ingredients were fresh, and the presentation was stunning. I particularly enjoyed their signature dishes, which were bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. Each bite was a culinary journey that left me craving more.

Staff The staff at TMK Rap were outstanding. They were attentive without being intrusive, and their recommendations were spot on. It was clear that they genuinely care about the dining experience, which made the evening even more enjoyable. Their friendly demeanor added a personal touch that made me feel right at home.

Vibe The vibe at TMK Rap is simply fantastic. The ambiance is lively yet cozy, making it perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. The music was well-chosen and added to the overall experience without overwhelming conversation. I loved the eclectic decor, which complemented the energetic feel of the restaurant.

In summary, TMK Rap is a must-visit for anyone in Wan Chai. With great food, exceptional staff, and an inviting atmosphere, it’s a dining experience that I can't recommend highly enough. I can't...

There is a reason why it's rated so high.

TMK Rap and Rolls is a fantastic experience. To start off with, the service is fantastic. We were greeted by David and he was the nicest and most helpful host I've met in a long time. He explained the menu choices before we ordered. Throughout the whole night, many of the staff asked if we needed anything or refreshed our water. Everybody was so nice and friendly.

The Wagyu and Hamachi dishes were delicious and full of flavor. King crab and wagyu rolls were yummy as well. Then we had their signature dish, the tuna hotdog. This unfortunately named dish is not a hotdog, but a crispy tempura fried sushi roll filled with crab and topped with spicy tuna. A wonderful mix of hot and cold, spice, soft and crispy. The perfect bite. Simply the best sushi type item I have ever had in my life!! If you go here, you HAVE TO try it.

Update July 26, 2022. Food still good but definitely not as friendly or attentive as they used to be. Completely ignored my birthday this time even notified ahead of time and I know they saw my birthday cake we brought in. No more gift certs for bdays anymore which is...
