My new review below: The Xiao Long Bao was the standout dish among all dim sum restaurants. Served in an aluminum tray, the dumplings stuck to the tray, allowing you to sip the flavorful broth without the dumpling falling apart. The added vinegar provided the perfect tanginess to complement the broth and pork. The shrimp dumplings were delicious, featuring plump and fresh shrimp, while the shrimp and pork dumpling was even more flavorful. The only downside was that the wrapper came off both types of dumplings. For vegetables, I chose the Choi Sum over blanched lettuce. It resembles broccoli but has a grassier taste. Unfortunately, the light soy sauce didn’t enhance the flavor; oyster sauce would be a better match. The steamed pork ribs in black bean sauce were another highlight, and I enjoyed the sticky rice chicken, which had a perfect texture—not mushy—and a good balance of graininess and moisture. While it was a bit bland on its own, it paired well with the pork ribs. Overall, this restaurant is one of the best dim sum places I've experienced and surpasses the other two famous spots in Mongkok.
This review was 7 months ago: If one dim sum is a 9/10, this place is like a 12/10. It is this good. Prices are affordable.
From the looks of the crowd, this is where the locals go for...
Read moreThis is a small dim sum restaurant with maybe a dozen tables in total. Old fashioned in that when you sit down, they bring your cutlery, a pot of tea and a flask of hot water to wash your cutlery before eating.
My wife and I were looking for good dim sum places near where we're staying in Mongkok and this place is just 10 mins walk away. We got there about 12nn and there were tables available. Tables for two are very tight but as the dishes came, they moved the next table over to join up so we had more space.
You can see the pictures for what we ordered. The receipt is there too but in Chinese. At the bottom of the receipt it says that your dishes are being prepared, please wait for 15-20 minutes for your order. Everything comes hot; either freshly steamed or fried. Best dim sum we've had in Hong Kong and that includes Michelin restaurants we've tried.

Read moreOur hunt for great dim sum took us a different turn for smaller establishment. And this turned out to be the best we’ve discovered. This place screams HK tradition with a friendly neighborhood vibe. The menu also has English translation so we just have to check off the items to order.
The place prides itself in freshly make & steam to order. There’s a warning that it can take 15-20min for order to be delivered. Sure enough, everything arrived piping hot including pan fried item like crunchy glutinous rice cake. The steamed red rice roll had a surprising crunchy layer enveloping the stuffings of pork and prawn. It was a happy combo of texture play with many levels of umami. Wow! The steamed tofu skin roll was flavorful and full of soya freshness. The honeycomb beef tripe in curry sauce was tenderly chewy. Perfect!
Again we found patience to be a great virtue to realize...
