My first street food market in HK and I loved it. Both this and Java Road are definitely worth a visit, though Tsun Yip is a bit out of the way. This market is more down to earth - most diners looked just like ordinary locals, not tourists or young people on a night out, and the simple tiled walls and floors do give it the look of a working market. The atmosphere is happy and raucous, with people playing dice and chatting around hotpot tables. But this place is smaller than Java Road and feels more relaxed. The restaurants inside very greatly in the effort done to make the decor and food look good; some just have stoves on bare concrete, serving very simple food. Other restaurants really make the decor very nice and present the food like a high-end restaurant. Some places you unfortunately need to speak Chinese to order.
