I'm not quite sure why this restaurant has 4. something on Google Map review.
This is the first restaurant i dine that without offer me a single glass of tap water (they do charge service fee). I was quite shocked, even the cheapest diner will at least offer me that. But we needed it anyways, so we paid like 20 or 30 mop to get a bottle of water.
The menu... Ummm they must assume that all customers are tourists and don't mind to spend money on dinner that THEY DONT EVEN SHOW US THE PRICE on menu…! wow can't believe that we didn't walk away, we must be starving...
For the dishes, I will give them a general 3. 5/ 5. I have no idea whether they are authentic are not as I have never been to Portugal before. We ordered creamy soup, it was awfully normal (if you get what i mean…). The beef was fine, we love it! The rice with the shrimps was like okay, I felt like the shrimps were a little bit unfresh, but my frd love it. The portion was large, 2 dishes and 2 soup for 2 ppl, we cannot finish all of them
There were abundant waitress that don't have things to do, so they kept watching us while we are dinning. I felt like I'm an animal in the zoo or something. Anyways, it was quite uncomfortable. They were kin to help and serve tho.
We ended up spent around 600 something mops on this dinner and we won't...
Read moreOverall I had a good experience at Mariazinha. The food I had was tasty and the portion size is quite large (think American style portions). Service was decent although I would have appreciated more explanation of the menu items.
Food: 3.75 stars Service/environment: 3.5 stars Value: 3.5 stars Overall: 3.75 stars Recommendations: salt cod, roasted piglet
The first dish we ordered was the clams. The clams were fresh but this dish really was missing some seasoning. It could have really used some salt and garlic. Surprised that this was the case and perhaps the kitchen forgot an ingredient.
The mains were much better. The suckling pig had a real nice crispy skin and the meat was nice and tender. I wish there was more pork as half the plate was a salad which was missing some type dressing.
The salt cod was the best dish I had and I would recommend this dish. The main reason my rating is four star and not three stars. The fish is a real generous portion and I really enjoyed the light sauce that it was cooked in. The accompanying components were also nice (roasted potatoes and bell pepper). I didn’t have the dessert but the pudding on the accompanying tables...
Read moreA familiar favorite in Macau—still authentic, though feels a little different this time. We’ve been to Mariazinha many times over the years, and it’s usually one of our go-to spots whenever we’re back in Macau. This time, though, it felt a bit pricier than before and the portions smaller—maybe because we came with a bunch of hungry kids this round!
The food remains authentic and well-cooked, showcasing true Portuguese flavors. However, I did miss seeing a few of the traditional classics like Serradura (sawdust pudding), Portuguese blood duck rice, and pork chop buns on the menu. Hopefully they bring those back someday.
It’s not particularly kids-friendly, so probably better for couples or small groups who can slow down and enjoy the cozy atmosphere.
Overall, still a good and genuine Portuguese spot in Macau, just not quite the same...
