Dined last night at Sorella. This was our third time at Sorella so obviously we like the restaurant on the two prior visits. The dinner started well with an attentive waiter, a great Vesper martini and an excellent wine recommendation. Things began to go sideways when we noticed that a couple dining at the next table had received complementary bread and accompaniments and we had not. We enquired and the bread was delivered in due course without the accompaniments. We again asked and they were delivered. We shared the first course of crispy potatoes topped with crab and shrimp salad, a delicious and well prepared plate. More problems followed with the main courses. My companions pasta (pacherie) was so undercooked it was inedible. Way under al dente, the pasta was actually stiff instead of silky. We told the waiter that we would like it replaced and he sent the manager, who was very understanding and agreed to bring another pasta. We requested the Amatriciana with pappardelle instead of spaghetti, thinking the pasta thinner than the pacherie would not be undercooked. My main course was Milanesa and it was accompanied by buttered pasta which was also stiff and undercooked. Because it was a side dish I did not ask for a replacement. However, the Milanese was overcooked and chewy. When the second pasta arrived the pappardelle was less undercooked but still stiff and hard. Please don't assume we like overcooked pasta, al dente is our preference but these pasta were half uncooked and bit back. The final issue was with our leftovers. Instead of putting the containers in a bag they brought them to us loose. We noticed that other table's leftovers or orders to go were place in a bag and nicely packed. We pointed this out to the server and he whisked away the containers and returned them in a bag. All in all, a disappointed dinner with regard to both food and service. Not sure if we will...
Read moreI came for a very early dinner, so I can’t judge for the lack of vibe, because I was the only diner there for a while until other people showed up. The interior is nice at least. What I ordered was pretty tasty and enjoyable, but what tarnished the experience was the service. My waiter was a younger guy and I don’t know if he was new, because I saw him checking in often with his manager, but putting that aside, he lamentably just had no charisma or even warmth, so all our interactions felt very transactional – not what you want in a nice Italian restaurant. I would come back to try other pastas or a pizza, but at a time where there will be more people, and hopefully with a...
Read moreEverything was fantastic!! The wood fired pizza was definitely the best we have had in Bogota. I will absolutely return and highly recommend if you are in the area.
Update: just finished our 3rd visit in like the last week. Totally wish we had found this place 2 months ago. Have enjoyed every bite in the restaurant and leftovers later at home.
Special shout out to Leonardo who was our waiter on the previous visits but not tonight and still found time to stop by and make sure we had everything the...
