Bastardo Restaurant — Restaurant in Medellín

I’ve always liked this place and I frequent it often over the last two years. I’ve brought Americans there and my Colombian friends. But tonight I had a very bad experience when I was asking for my check. The gentleman made it clear to me that the tip was not included, and I could only charge the bill but not the tip on my cc. so he asked for the tip in cash. I gave him 100,000 pesos and asked for change which he never brought back. so I refused to pay my bill Until I got the change and when he returned, he only gave me 20,000 pesos. so then I got mad and he returned my hundred thousand and then when I received the bill, the tip was included and added on my credit card anyway. so I thought at first maybe it was a language barrier, but I would just be concerned and double check your bill and be careful of the tip when you’re closing out. I took my family to this restaurant resently. The place was not so busy and food/drinks were coming out on a timely manner. Until I order the main, it was the Salmon. They left all the scales in it. I sent it back (of course) just to have it returned to me by the waiter saying that the kitchen (dump cook) has removed the fish skin for me. I tried to explain to the waiter that no fish is served with scales specially salmon and that I wanted a new dish cooked. He gave me some explanation that the Chef was not there that night and in the kitchen the cooks did whatever they wanted. I did not touched the plate one again, I paid my $300 bill and left. This restaurant was recommended by friend so I did not hesitate to take my family for a nice dinner. Although I’m not planning to go back...

The place has a nice atmosphere with cool and thoughtful decorations, which set high expectations initially. However, the service and food quality need significant improvement. While the wait to be seated was quick, the experience quickly deteriorated. Drinks took over 30 minutes to arrive—and only after I went to the bar myself to follow up. The waiter seemed completely disorganized, and there was no sign of effective management to oversee the service. For the price, I expected much more. Unfortunately, anything that could have been iconic about this spot is overshadowed by the lack of service quality and coordination....
